The records already exist to verify the status of actual citizens. It's the illegals who operate under the radar, game the system and break numerous laws.
The interests in this country for really cheap labor, or even slavery, continue to be quite numerous and powerful. The Civil War didn’t resolve the problem. Maybe we’ll get another chance though.
Then there's the "call out the militia" clause, and a number of others.
"Work" is a derivative of a number of other concepts ~ just one of the reasons it doesn't appear in the Constitution.
This is a ping list promoting Immigration Enforcement and Congressional Reform.

Come on, look on the bright side.
It'll be fun watching a vote-crazed president on all fours, all puckered up, sucking up to latinos.
Man, it'll be a double feature what with puckered-up Napolitano crawling on her knees by his side.....LOL.
So, citizens of the United States are to be treated exactly like foreign nationals, because our political leaders won't secure the border or enforce our laws.
Then there's the "call out the militia" clause, and a number of others.
So, in order to work we all have to consider ourselves to be drafted into the armed forces. I guess we're all part Of Obama's domestic security force now, eh?
"Work" is a derivative of a number of other concepts ~ just one of the reasons it doesn't appear in the Constitution.
Ah, it's in the emanations and penumbras. Got it.
And giving control over who works anywhere in America to the general government won't change that one bit.
I can make another requirement. Just line folks up and demand their ID ~ if they don't have one send them to Canada (if it's Winter) or Mexico (if it's Summer).
I know you wanted to make a point about "statists" and "statism" ~ but I'd like to make this point ~ if you don't have a good idea about how to ship 12 million illegal aliens and their whelps back where they came from, then get out the way!
A nonsensical statement unless you favor allowing illegal aliens to work in the US however they please. And there are many other reasons we should be able to verify whether someone in the US legally.
Don’t pretend that E-Verify will ship any illegals anywhere. It won’t. Having applied this bandaid, one that makes deep incursions into the liberty of the American people, they will continue to do nothing to secure our borders or to enforce the laws we already have.
In fact, Obama just made it clear via executive order that his regime has no intention of enforcing the law.
There are plenty of ways to identify and deport illegal invaders of our country without requiring every American citizen to beg a bureaucrat for permission to work.
By the way, I don’t question the motives of most of those who support E-Verify. I just don’t think they’ve thought things all the way through.
Food Services ~ everybody in the food services industry needs to get the approval of the Board of Health.
The information and data bases needed for most of this already exist. Most new information and additional ID requirements would involve legal foreign visitors and illegal aliens. Your posts on this subject are out in left field.
Again, Boards of Health are not Federal.
Again, Boards of Health are not Federal.
No. Most of those who oppose E-Verify at this point in time are, but I'm not. You see, they're concerned about the "rights" of those who have invaded our country. I'm concerned about the liberty of the American people.
Again:
"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."-- Benjamin Franklin
Then there is the US Senate. The Bill will be DOA.
Discussion is therefore meaningless
All great words of wisdom can misapplied in real world situations.
We’re giving up our liberty bit-by-bit by allowing foreign, illegal entrants to become part of our political debate and to exert influence on our national policies, and to drive down the living standards of a portion of American citizen workers, and to access benefits paid for with tax dollars and borrowed dollars.
