Yes.. true. Nice, tho, if the offenders had the
decency to take hat in hand and apologize.....

What they .. and all the others who resort to
sinking to DU levels of coarseness and nastiness ..
don’t grasp is that they’re in a privately owned
and the #1 conservative site online that’s constantly
monitored and targeted by the vocal enemies of
conservatism.

Those comments DO reflect badly on the entire site,
and hurt the place by giving the nasty left the fodder
they crave.

Self control = it’s a good thing.

I’m glad that you shared your memories of her. Another poster said they had met her and she was very nice. I don’t share some of her liberal views but the stories make her a “real” person and not just a political figure.

Exactly. Thank you. Mrs. Ford was a credit to herself and to humanity, both for her willingness to confront her own weaknesses - something we could all stand to do more of (confront our weaknesses, that is, not hers) - and her ability to bring something positive for herself and others out of that darkness. God Bless her.

It’s probably because she shared some of their liberal views.

May she rest in peace in God’s loving arms.

I hope she repented of her steadfast support of abortion too. That would likely be the only way she's resting there.

Some posters seem to think that they post in a vacuum. They don’t. FR is read by a LOT of people that never post. Or even sign up. Some of them from the left, that you mentioned, looking for ammo to use.

Well I've only read a couple of the comments here but was on another thread regarding Mrs. Ford's death Maybe I'll get flamed for this comment too but really it doesn't matter. I was too young to really have a grasp on the ramifications of a Ford presidency. Oh I was a teenager but busy with other things at the time.

Now reading about Ford's death and the things she supported, I realize it is little wonder that our country has continued to go downhill. She supported ABORTION and everyone on here seems to believe that should be overlooked. Was Ted Kennedy's death held in such reverence? I don't think so... If Betty Ford stood for what I have read this evening, she was a POS. FWIW here's my comment from the other BF thread:

“Well now I’m thoroughly disgusted. If true, she was a POS wrapped in fine linen. So I wonder, when approaching the Creator of the Universe, if saying “I did all these good things...oh btw, I was for butchering babies because, well you know Lord, babies can be such a ‘barrier’ for women” will still open the door to paradise...”

Sickening...

Both signed up in ‘98. It’s not as if they’re fresh trolls.

I may not have agreed with Mrs. Ford in some political subjects, but is that really all there is to life? She made a substantial contribution to helping people.

I thought we were the ones who weren’t into handouts but were about people getting themselves together and not being a burden on society. Well, she helped people actually turn their lives around. A lot of people talk about that kind of thing, but this woman, for all her views which I strongly disagree with, actually made it happen—not by demanding some dumb government program filled with hacks, but by going out and establishing a place to deal with a real problem.

And for that she gets called names?

It doesn’t matter if you disagree with her—sometimes, you really should just shut up, and when someone has just died and left family behind, that’s one of them.

(Now we’ll hear the whining about “You can’t tell me what to do, this is a free country, blah blah blah.”)

OK, I’ll rephrase—stop being such a jerk, okay?

Would you say those things to her family? Do you know who is reading the thread? She has died. Now it's up to God. And I'm not Him.

As to the Kennedy threads, yes, some comments were deleted. There were even a few threads where a Mod asked for civility. FR is not DU.

May she be judged for her strengths and not her weaknesses.

The institute that bears her name, while pricey, is excellent.

The animosity by a few has surprised me.

Gotta call it a night.

Goodnight.

It’s fundraising time and this place is turning into a shot hole..
Intentional or not?

I, for one am dismayed and disgusted.

Can you believe it? I can see a simple "I didn't like her" sufficing in many forums. But this?

No I would not say that to them at this time. But I surely wouldn’t hold her up as an example either. I’m surprised at the reaction from you and others. She probably did everything in her power, which is considerable for a First Lady, to help the Roe v. wade case. People used whatever leverage they had back then in order for this horrific law to get passed. I will not revere someone who has helped this nation’s demise.

What I will say is my God have Mercy on her Soul.
