Actually, there will be such a huge curiosity factor, especially among her most ardent detractors, that alot of them will give it a peek. And once the film starts, they'll have a real hard time turning it off.
All the talk around the water-coolers, over the lunch table, etc., it'll eventually be viewed by over 100 million people, maybe nearly double that. Remember, if it's God's will, the truth will certainly surpass human understanding or explanation.
I fully believe she is being lifted up to this task by God Himself.

Wishful thinking about the data is one thing but a 63% drop in the first week (with a 40% increase in screens) is nothing short of a disaster for the distributor.

I could not agree more!!! I think many decent people will be STUNNED when they hear some of the words used to describe this good Christian woman...whether you support her politically, or not.
You don’t throw a winning product into the discount bins on day two, and offering VOD in 75 million homes does not guarantee any level of viewership.
You do if you are a patriot more concerned with saving his country than stuffing his wallet.
If all that doesn't happen, does that mean God decided to go with Michele Bachmann or Rick Perry instead?
I am sure this will get a lot of PPV hits from the (approximately) 15% of Americans who are strong Palin supporters.

The film business is just that, a business. The indie producer has no control over the method and timing of distribution...none at all. Once he signs a deal with a distributor all he can do is wait, watch and hope they don't screw him in the accounting.
The distributor decides the pattern based on a number of factors. In this case they were looking for a break-out first two weeks so that they could expand the footprint throughout the AMC chain. They didn't get it...they got hosed.
Now they are going to plan b...derive secondary platform revenues. And, they are pushing it as fast as they can because once it is clear that Trademark won't be running there will be zero interest in seeing her "story".

Pay Per View. Didn’t you hear this country is going to be saved on the fact that people can pay $3.99 to watch someone’s life story and then if you get excited (Which I truly did when Palin did the ANWR Greta interview) Palin still won’t have announced she’s running.
Only problem with that theory is that the DVD release is slated for after such a non-event would fail to materialize. The only way that theory works is if the DVD release was also scheduled for Sept 1, while the "window of opportunity" is still open.
Of course, the theory is fundamentally flawed in the first place because Palin is indeed going to enter (and likely win) the race for the GOP nomination.
