"It all comes down to predicting what Bernanke is more afraid of, and I have no way of doing that."
and this was another part of the great depression. The longstanding chairman of the fed croaked, and the dude the put in charge was at best inconsistant, at worst incompetent...as early as '27 the crap started to hit the fan, and the guy panicked. This uncertainty is what started the chain of events that lead to the crash and recession in '29 (yes, at that time it was merely a recession, and not even the worst one in history)..so your statement carries alot more weight than most will give you credit for. I, however, see the wisdom in the above statement...bernake has got to go NOW

RE :"
Texas Gov. Rick Perry's (R) suggestion Monday in Iowa that it would be "treasonous" for the Federal Reserve to engage in more quantitative easing turned heads and raised questions about the limits to Perry's folksiness on the campaign trail"
I been pinging articles from Mises and Schiff, Rogers and Faber for >2 + 1/2 years predicting that Bernake's misguided Federal Reserve policies would continue to fail (as they did under GWB) and would lead to disaster but the wording Perry's uses strikes me as contrived and phony looking to bait our emotions. It reminds me the the King of the con-men : Trump.

Tony Fratto? That’s the biggest name Republican they could dredge up to attack Governor Perry?

>> It all comes down to predicting what Bernanke is more afraid of <<
If you study Bernanke’s history, both before and after he was appointed to the Fed, you’ll find that he’s clearly more afraid of a real “depression” (a la 1930’s) than he is of inflation. He’s more-or-less on the record as saying so.
He may be dead wrong, or he may be right. I’m not wise enough to know. But Perry’s language was most definitely in appropriate and “unpresidential.” Absolutely no way to win over the indepedents who will determine the 2012 election. I predict that if Perry makes many more gaffes like this one, he’ll eventually sink into Pawlentyland.

.......the wording Perry's uses here strikes me as contrived and phony-----to
bait our emotions.....reminds me of the King of Con-men: Donald Trump. N-i-c-e take......like Trump, Perry's glibness is very off-putting.
To lot of voters, Perry's Texas swagger and twang---evoke painful memories of failed Texas presidencies---GWB and LBJ.

Given the DNC response, and the dismal outlook for the Dems; this is the new mantra through the primaries. Rick Perry and Ron Paul. Leadership with fiscal responsibility.

Trump is a floating incendiary device. Perry is consistent. Perfect? No but show me any perfect candidate. Perry speaks plainly, maybe sounds contrived but it strikes a cord in voters. Trump is a flame thrower and has taken so many various positions over time, donating to both sides, all for the benefit of Trump. People like what he said and how he said it but it is all for Trump. Perry wants what is best for our country.

Well we agree on Trump 100%. I warned of HIM from day one
Perry so far is not impressing me. I see another fast talker, but under pressure he supported and passed the Dream Act (college tuition for illegals) and hate crimes. This is compassionate conservatism. I fear another RINO sleeper time bomb in the White House and he is setting off my warning bells.

"Perry is consistent."
Consistenly wrong. He wrote a letter in favor of TARP and the bailouts at the time. Texas has arguably been the biggest beneficiary of the Fed's loose money policies of the past decade. He should be writing a personal thank-you note to Bernanke for the Texas job creation that he's trying to take credit for.

SICKOFLIBS POSTED: "Perry is not impressing me; he sets off my warning bells. I see a fast talker who supported and passed the freebie Dream Act. I fear another RINO sleeper time bomb in the White House. We need to nominate someone who will actually enforce our laws and respect the sovereignty of this country. We can no longer afford goodies and handouts to every one who sets foot on our soil." PERRY IS THE FACE OF "COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATISM" ---- the cockamamie brainstorm of the pukeneos for the express purpose of kicking so/cons out of the Repub party.
Look at 'em.....the pukes are salivating, thinking they got another GWB they can dupe.
THIS WE KNOW Perry will do nothing to stop illegals from violating our borders. Oh sure, hell talk plenty about "securing" the border. But once in office, like GWB, hell do the "compassionate act, and remind us that illegals are hard working, do the work Americans wont do, we cant send them all back home, we need to be compassionate conservatives.....we will only be able to solve the illegal problem by giving them all amnesty.

Good observation. It would be foolish for the Fed to allow the money supply to contract while the economy is spiraling downward, as it did during the Great Depression of the 1930’s. Right now, however, the economy does not need more money supply; it needs to remove the regulatory and tax obstacles to growth.
