Would be candidates should act accordingly.
Liberals are working hard to pretend that Perry's the guy to beat, the "most electable" to hype him, especially to social conservatives.
Wait until he gets the nod, then watch ever media outlet ram this Gardasil connection to Perry's former chief of staff until even the unenlightened wake up and realize Perry's not so conservative and not at all a "social conservative!"
bump for tomorrow.
If I had a dime for every time folks said Palin was history, I'd be rich. Frankly, these weekly “Palin’s toast” rants are just getting a wee bit old and tired.
So, on one hand Palin’s a joke that has no chance of being President; on the other hand she merits numerous threads chronicling her every word. You Betcha! ;-)
None forthcoming, you are just being a true Perry supporter. Nuff Said.
I will say this as slowly and clearly as possible....Perry will do or say anything to be elected. If the Governorship of Texas called for pro choice views, Perry would have delivered that.
If the wind at the time had called for a gay marriage friendly guy, Perry would have delivered that.
The biggest lie Perry has told is this...he claims to have voted for Reagan, both terms, yet he worked for and supported Al Gore.
I am calling him out on this..I do not believe he voted for Reagan!
Perry sucks. The MSM anointed RINO,
In 2005, HB 2475 said, "This bill requires the Department of State Health Services to develop a strategic plan to eliminate mortality from cervical cancer by the year 2015 " "The strategic plan must be developed and delivered to the governor and legislature no later than December 31, 2006."
Was the plan delivered to Perry? Yes it was.
A 47 page report (Acrobat PDF) called "Texas Cervical Cancer Strategic Plan," December 2006, by Texas Department of State Health Services in collaboration with The Texas Cancer Council was delivered.
Page 8, "Executive summary" Armed with this new HPV vaccine, we can achieve the moment when we know our goal eliminating cervical cancer death and suffering is in reach.
Page 20, "Access to Care" - "Women must have access to cervical cancer screening to eliminate cervical cancer in Texas. The National Cancer Institute reports that groups of women with high cervical cancer mortality:...
"Widespread vaccination is a key to reducing cervical cancer incidence in Texas"
The people who think this was something Perry cooked up in secret for crony capitalist pals at Merck in exchange for $6,000 total in campaign donations are demented.
He acted in the furtherance of the legislature's public health goals by ensuring the widest dissemination of and coverage for the vaccine.
The three shots included in Gardasil cost $360 which is not cheap for "low income" individuals most in need of it. Opt-out vaccines are covered by insurance, Medicaid and other programs. Opt-in vaccines not.
In the time since, Gardasil has been found effective against even more forms of HPV-related cancer beyond cervical cancer. It's effective against oral, anal and penile cancers too. On that basis the FDA has expanded its approval to include males.
The science is solid: there's now a competing HPV cervical cancer vaccine using the same technology.
For the umpteenth time Perry said he overreached and should've gone through the legislature.
As for that, I wonder if this was a case of a strong legislature asserting itself against what's considered a weak governorship.
Bachmann is desperate to save her dying campaign. It's shameful she'd stoop that low.
Perry's clearly not afraid of the issue. Where Bachmann wouldn't name the company, Perry did. Where Bachmann would only say "thousands" donated Perry was specific ($5K) and put it in context of total money raised, tens of millions.
She also showed her desperation on the vaccine claiming there was "no choice" when she knew full well parents could opt-out for their kids. She affected a concerned and pleading mother's look, as if she was going to cry at one point. It was very unbecoming.
Like Romney, Bachmann showed no class on Social Security either suggesting Perry would end it when he was standing right there saying nothing of the kind.
When things got tough for her campaign, Bachmann revealed herself as a transparent, deceptive, innuendo-slinging liar. She learned well from her time with Ed Rollins.
I didn't see what Palin said but she's the last person who should be trading in innuendo after what's been said about her.
Flame away bitches.
Imagine if Obama were to mandate Gardasil shots. There would be so many angry posts it’d break the internet.
