You have to "tune your ear".
It is like listening to someone speak English with a heavy accent, you have to focus to understand. But the more time you spend listening to the language the quicker your ear tunes. Audio Books are great for this if you don't live where you can immerse yourself in the language.
When I lived in South America I could switch from English to Spanish without thinking about it. Now it takes me a few minutes to get back into the swing.

I would pay any amount of money to get normal hearing.
Rather than money, time is probably your best friend. Pretty amazing what was thought impossible just a generation ago is now commonplace. Hang in there.
