LOL! You must still love getting yourself into Playground Fights. Let us know when you decide to graduate into the adult world. There is much to be learned from those who actually honor and respect others. (Can you imagine that?)

That's really the point. Cain on Face the Nation actually took Perry's border security plan almost word for word as he explained how there probably wont be an electric fence.

Romney and Newt have never really had to answer the question or go on record.

Perry is doing what he said he would do, giving the American people a shot of the truth.

If you really step back and look you can see that the original plan of Mitt getting the nomination is starting to come into shape. I still don't believe he will get it but the plan is obviously there.

It’s classic debate society conservatism vs real world conservatism. Cain says something absolutely NUTTY about electric fences and killing illegals, and people cheer, despite the fact that it will NEVER happen. Ever. Then someone who has actually dealt with the real world says a fence guarding the entire border is impractical and ineffective and there are better ways to do it, and the debate society conservatives go crazy.

I enjoyed Reagan and Coolidge’s real world conservatism. Too bad we have so few anymore.

Now, what you should have said is “Can you clarify which polls?” To which I would have obliged you.

Funny, you didn't specify what poll when you made your claim in the first place. And you didn't say "some polls", you made a blanket statement, and now you can't even back that up. What was it, an internet poll on the Cain website?

Not nice to lie and run away when caught.

There is still a lot of time left. The larger number of voters don’t pay attention until early next year. The debates are not the main factor in deciding who will be the nominee. If that were the case, then we would see Romney as the current President, since he won a large portion of the debates in 2008.

Much of the reason that McCain won, was his past experience in government. The majority of voters are not political junkies or rabid activists like we see on this forum. There is a much bigger world out there who sees things more to the middle. Perry’s common sense and truthful approach is not popular here, but to the majority of the country, it certainly is.

I believe Perry is waiting for the right moment to make his move. At some point, he will use the large amount of funding he has saved up the most effective way possible. He is not at all finished. Especially since the recent Cain scandal has taken over the headlines.

Don’t know how the flat tax will fly, but that’s a GREAT picture! :)

You are appreciated, but I do wish we could have a Perry thread without the nasty disrupters.

I just posted abuse on them and asked the monitors to watch these threads for the people who jump on them only to post playground insults and baseless lies.

If they really wanted to discuss issues, I would be fine with them disagreeing, but that’s not what they want.

I hope it works.

Perry wouldn’t rebound even if he were giving away free beer.

He’s in 180-degree opposition to the majority in his own party on important issues like trade, immigration, and borders/sovereignty. And the rest of the country does not view political “palm-grease” the same way Texans do. It’s a cultural difference, and an important one in the current political climate. The TTC fiasco would prevent him from ever gaining traction in the general election. Most (nearly all) states would not have returned him to the Governor’s office after something like that. That Obama would slaughter him in the debates does not help.

Every vote for Perry in the primaries (especially the early ones) is a vote for Romney.

Romney did well in 2008 and McCain ultimately won because there wasn't a Tea Party movement and because the conservative candidates didn't try hard enough. As much as I liked Fred Thompson, he was not doing what he needed to be doing and I wasted money on him. Here in 2011 things are much different. Once Santorum and Bachmann drop out, their folks will go to somebody other than Romney. Huntsman - I think his half a dozen or so supporters will go to Romney. Things will shake out just fine.

This is a ridiculous and juvenile argument. I'm not a Perry fan, and maybe you were angry at the Perry supporters who pushed the idea that supporting anybody but Perry was equal to supporting Romney, but it's the primaries. As long as people don't support Romney, it's fine. Romney will not get the nomination.

Gov. Perry’s long standing fight for Life is out there. You do yourself no favor by distorting the truth.

You are too kind. JDW is purposely lying or is woefully ignorant. Either way he/she is not worth the attention. Unfortunately, we have to respond to people like that in case there are those who are simply misinformed and need correcting.

I'm well aware of that - and yes this is very much tit-for-tat. When the lesser-of-two-evils dialectic comes into play, evil always wins. It was also ribbing directed at the OP who, although she may be 100% delusional in her support of Perry, is a decent enough sort and seems to have a pretty good sense of humor.

Every vote for Perry is a vote for Romney?

One could argue that Perry was the previous front-runner among staunch conservatives and the people who peeled their support away from him and toward Cain will be the ones who hand it to Romney if he wins. The people sticking with Perry throughout are not/will not be the ones to hand it to Romney. Its the other way around. We never left for someone "better" while others did. Had we stuck together it would be virtually overwith by now. Now to be fair I cannot and will not condemn the people who left for Cain. I am sure they had reasons they felt were valid and I will leave it at that. My gut feeling about this election cycle is that the previous Palin supporters both took offense to Perry joining the race and blame him for Palin not entering. They fled toward Herman Cain when he got some sea legs and showed promise. This percentage of the voters will cause a split in the conservative vote resulting in a Romney win. It is a long way out and anything could happen but this is my gut feeling right now.

This from you and everything else you said was great and so true. Thank you.
