Cheap food. Toast on a sandwich. Add ingredients to taste.

If you want to just add something to make it taste, there's a simple solution (You can live on it)

I’ve been eating egg sandwiches all my life, and not because they’re cheap....but because they’re good.

We need to ship cases of Spam to the Brits again, like we did in WWII.
I’ve met Brits from that generation who thought Spam was a treat during the war and still loved it.

I hear that on Pacific Islands where beef is very expensive, like Hawaii and Guam, fast food places even have Spamburger on the menu.

Have had relatives that have told me about adding eggs to ramen noodles because it’s filling and very cheap.
I hate to live in a world where that’s the ‘normal’ expectation. Abject poverty is not a situation to aspire to.
Some apparently thing that’s some sort of idealized lifestyle. I think it stinks and we should be overcoming the depression lifestyle at this point.

Marxist chickens coming home to roost. Is it too early for publication of The National Cookbook of North Korea?
To: Jack Hammer
It’s actually getting late for the National Cookbook of North Korea from the sites I’ve been to. :\
I say that as I am chomping down on a hockey puck sized chocolate chip cookie....

fried egg sandwiches are great Put a slice of fried braunschweiger and a slice of lettuce and tomato on it.
Accompany with a pickle spear and wash down with coffee.
Then note how the cat is suddenly more interested in kissing you than your wife is. :-)
Cheers!

A upscale version of the “Jam Sandwich”. You took two pieces of bread and jammed them together!

During the Depression, my Mother's Family ate Mayonnaise Sandwiches. They couldn't afford Cheese or Meat.
They were as poor as poor can be.
I grew up eating them myself. Still do today when I want something quick and tasty.
Has to be Best Foods / Hellmans. The others just won't do.

Ms Little said: "You can add an egg for 8p, it's not much and it would give you some protein and keep you fuller for longer - and it would make it taste much better. But then it's not a toast sandwich any more, is it? Pfft.

But I thought everyone had all the food and medical care they could want in the glorious modern welfare states! You mean they have run out of other people’s money, as M. Thatcher said they would? Wow, what a surprise.

Spam is pretty popular in Hawaii, you can get it in many restaurants. In New Zealand many folks eat beans on toast for breakfast - I never could embrace that habit (and there isn't a single person in the country that knows how to make a decent Hollandaise)...
