It goes to Romney’s skill as a politician. It is a bad political move to buy a mansion on the ocean in the most exclusive city in America and then announce it is too small and that you are going to tear it down and build a bigger mansion.
Is it his money? Is it his right? These are political non sequituras. The point is it is political lunacy to play into your opponenents #1 weapon - class warfare. Mitt is an INCOMPETANT politician and shouldn’t be the nominee on that basis.

I have no idea what difference it makes how rich Romney is or Newt is. Newt is an idiot to resent wealth. It shows what a cheap suit he is.
Please! Do you not buy at Tiffany’s?
Or have any experience of it?
Raise your hand if your congresscritter and Senators are not millionaires performing favors for their millionaire pals.
I quite enjoy his slamming Romney and Paul. They’re dangerous idiots. Keep it up, Mitt.
‘Newt’. Oh, geez.
Exactly.
And you are ... You?
And you are ... Who?
Dear Cat,
It does not take a genius on this forum to find out I am a Perry supporter.
I never liked Newt because he is an elite progressive (and even a liberal). Now, I am absolutely hating him because of his bitter, whiny, angry, class warfare rhetoric.
Thank you!
Crony Capitalists who are LIABNOs (Lobbyists in all but name only).
Thank you. I like the both, to be honest. And Santorum as well. But that’s me.
. . . And Mitt Romney's primary rssidence isn't located inside the Beltway. Newt Gingrich the smartest man in the room? Hardly.
When a guy who is he son of both American Manufacturing and political Royalty is the face of the party during a time when a bombastic black man is president and a ‘hate the rich’ attitude is brewing, It is a bad sign.
Anything that Newt can do to topple this fool is Kosher in my book. Have at the RINO scumbag. Send him back to the temple or at least back to Boston.
If you’re not going to make a point, go away. Quit relying on you’re FR rep. I answered your question.
It’s nuts that as little as we supposedly want Romney, we still have people that will try to shield him.
I didn’t get that he resented wealth - he’s a politician trying to attack Romney without coming right out and saying it, and I don’t get “resentment”.
What bothers me is, if this quote is accurate: “Gingrich replied, No, I cant afford things like that, Im not rich.”
I’ve seen reports that he’s worth between $6 million and over $10 million. If he thinks that’s not “rich”, he is quite out of touch with normal folks.
I remember when some around here (who hated Perry with a passion) attacked him for a couple of land deals which lead to him having a net worth of about $1 million. And last week some haters were attacking Perry for collecting his pension — remember, he’s one of the poorest candidate’s we’ve had a in a while.
And here’s Gingrich, worth many times more than Perry, claiming he isn’t “rich”.
The fact that he was answering some dumbass reporter’s question rather than saying, “I’m not rich (unlike some people)” out of the blue makes this slightly less offensive to me. I’m not sure why. But if Newt (or any other Republican candidate) continues to use class warfare as a tactic, I have no use for them.
I get the feeling Newt is a one man operation. He needs other people to do his dirty work. Then he can pretend to take the high road like OB and MR.
