Lamar Smith seems like the kind of guy who could sweep the floor at the local Wal-Mart if given constant supervision and short working hours, so why in the world has he been elected to Congress?

The entire SOPA proposal is flawed. Well-intentioned, but drafted by the totally ignorant about the subject -- legislators and bureaucrats. The cure is "special-interest" crap and the cure is worse than the disease.

That's what I thought - the thing was impossible to make sense out of. Of course, this is always a bad sign.

Number one point, is U.S. companies who sell it foreign countries that pirate have to come up with better solutions themselves for ensuring they get paid.

At first, they are salivating at the size of the market so much so that they completely dismiss the idea of "lost revenue". They tell you you're nuts.

After selling in the "pirate country" a few years, it starts really bothering them - the fact that they're only getting a small amount of the revenue they should due to piracy.

But they plunged in without planning for that obvious eventuality.

If you ask me that is at the root of a great many human evils. Goverment is obviously the nexus of this desire.(It is the logical place for men with the strongest drive in this area to congregate).

We should none the less provide for sanctions & tariffs against country’s that do not effectively protect our intellectual property.

Cutting Americans off from foreign thieves does not stop their thief.
