I just noticed the name of the author of the National Review Santorum puff piece. Robert Costa, who I heard on Kudlow’s radio show a couple of weekends ago jumping on Perry and Gingrich as threats to “our capitalist system” for daring to question Mitten’s activities as a corporate raider at Bain Capital.
Who says splitting the conservative vote is not a deliberate strategy being used by the Romney campaign?
Rick Perot only won IA because Mitt spent $10 million destroying Newt. Now he is riding the Mitt destruction wave for his own ego.

The poor man and his supporters are delusional. The only thing support for him will garner is a greater possibility that we end up with Romney. Santorum can’t even get a plurality of the conservative vote let alone hope to get support from the independents.

The only reason Santorum is still in the race is because there are lots of debates. Debates allow a candidate without money to stick around just for the free TV time.
It is not a game of survivor. It is a game of spoiler, and it is very small deed with very great consequences.

Politicians don’t possess egos. Egos possess politicians. The photos of him and his daughter are fantastic, and they clearly love each other very much. Her health is precarious. A normal father would be home with her. A politician father . . . on the road. Driven by ego. Saddest epitaph: “I wish I had spent more time at the office”.

Meaning you can’t. I’ll admit it is not deep thinking. The elements are very simple. Family first, or career? Real simple. If he brought unique insights, ideas or skills that would be an entirely different matter. He does not.
I’d love to know who that talk radio personality is, because in the world of talk radio, if it’s not Rush or Levin, the guy’s a backbencher.
Please keep in mind that Sliwa, Gambling and Geraldo aren’t conservatives. Or is he someone who does weather reports in Montauk?
Santorum thinks that he has a calling to save this country and his family is being well taken care of.
I think that maybe you should let him make those decisions.
Santorum is the best, most dependable man in this race.
Oh, there is no doubt that Gingrich has more moxie, that he can get fired up and still think on his feet, but I am afraid that they will make him unelectable by making him unlikeable.
Oh, I’ll support him if he is the nominee, but I don’t want Santorum out of the race. This race could go to a brokered convention and whoever ends up the nominee will be pushed to the right by Santorum’s presence.
I am for the most conservative candidate, who can win. It seems as though Santorum’s presence is the only way to push these guys to the right.
