Does the Vermont chapter of Girl Scouts allow heterosexual men to be scout leaders, going out with young women in the woods?
No. But gays refuse to see logic on this point.
Up front let me say that I am in Vermont and a scoutmaster, and yes this state is a socialist hell hole.
This report comes from the ‘gay star news’- seriously people do you think that any drivel that comes from this source should be taken seriously, they can’t even get the name of the BSA council correct. The Onion is more reliable.
I got the letter from the Green mountain council stating that there is no change to the standing policy. The one that has been in place since 2001 after the Supreme court ruled in favor of the BSA. It does reaffirm that there is a non discrimination policy in place, just as national. It goes on to further state that if the BSA stance is a ‘deal breaker’ for the youth so be it. The Green Mountain Council will follow the National BSA charter.
This is an attempt by the homosexual lobby to make it look like they are making progress while in reality they are loosing ground ( see Chic Fil A). Homosexual will lie if they think in benefits there cause. Never trust anything from a Homosexual group- period.
Sad thing is, gay advocates refuse to view Sandusky as a homosexual. “He was a pedophile, completely different” is their stock response. No matter the gender of his victims.
So lesbians can become Boy Scouts now. Learn something ever’ day, I tells ya.
Gay troop masters should call themselves Chickenhawks since they prey on young boys.
Just as the term “teabagger” was used to slur conservatives, so was the homosexual term “chickenhawk” used an administration earlier.
I think the article is basically a load of crap. The one quote they give from the Green Mountain Council:
The Green Mountain Councils policy reads, The Green Mountain Council, Boy Scouts of America, does not inquire into the sexual orientation of existing or prospective members, youth or adult.
Is essentially what the National Policy is. The BSA does not inquire or ask about sexual orientation.
The language used to describe the BSA's policies on homosexual individuals has evolved over time. In a 1993 position statement, BSA said:
"We do not allow for the registration of avowed homosexuals as members or as leaders of the BSA."
In 2004, the BSA adopted a new policy statement, including the following as a "Youth Leadership" policy:
"Boy Scouts of America believes that homosexual conduct is inconsistent with the obligations in the Scout Oath and Scout Law to be morally straight and clean in thought, word, and deed. The conduct of youth members must be in compliance with the Scout Oath and Law, and membership in Boy Scouts of America is contingent upon the willingness to accept Scoutings values and beliefs. Most boys join Scouting when they are 10 or 11 years old. As they continue in the program, all Scouts are expected to take leadership positions. In the unlikely event that an older boy were to hold himself out as homosexual, he would not be able to continue in a youth leadership position."
So in other words Gay Star News is lying, and VT does NOT allow gays to be scouts and scout masters?
So Gay Star News is basically dressing up a DADT policy?
So what are they "not" discriminating against, exactly?
yes, this is the crux of it. How many parents will enroll their boys into a troops headed by an avowed homosexuals, transgendered people or lesbians?
When a child is abused, will the parents be able to file a lawsuit against the National organization because of the decisons of a state chapter?
Pretty much... I am not aware of any Homosexual scout masters in our area. I am sure they could exist somewhere in the state but that is true nation wide. I know for our troop, our committee chair has said that homosexuals will not be allowed. Last year another troop in our town denied membership to a boy who was openly homosexual on the grounds that he did not live up to the Scout oath.
Geez, Gay Star News ought to be refuted. What idiots. Thanks for your info. I only sourced them because they came up on my news alert for BSA.
All Girl Scouts allow heterosexual men to be troop leaders.
We have had many Dads as GS leaders.
However, a male troop leader must have a female (nonrelated) co-leader and when camping there must be separate facilties (sleeping and toilet) for men
All volunteers are background checked
No adult is ever alone with the girls.
I would worry more about a predatory lesbian (or 2) than a male hetero as troop leader, and would not have a male troop leader who did not have a daughter in the troop
Vermont new motto Live LGBT or Die.
It sounds like they have a DADT policy which is thought to be non-discriminatory.
Then they are setting themselves up to get sued. This does not pass the test of rational precaution but instead stands as willful negligence.
Probably so. What we have is a gay publication trying to declare a victor in their war against the Boy Scouts. Several things in the article seem to be contradictory, or at best not very clear.
And the reality probably is that variations of a don't ask, don't tell policy are at play in all sorts of institutions and organizations in the US and elsewhere. But the militant gays just have to go around trying to force even eleven year-old boys to declare an orientation.
The scouts should absolutely bar any gay leaders, but if the gay activists would get out of it there would be little concern about the sexual orientation of 11 - 15 year-old boys. I think most boys are out of scouts by their mid-teens, though some remain longer.
BSA ought to just expire that chapter’s membership.
Either you’re part of the organization and follow the standards, or you become your own organization.
Hey, *let* there be a sodomite scouts. See how many parents let their kids go.
