A stretch? Nice try, the ambush points were a mile away from the Amabssador’s digs. Disinformation doesn’t work as easily as it used to, what with the internet to update data, eh?
Under dire circumstances, the Americans looped a mile away from the “Consulate” to get to an Annex 1000 meters away (driving distance in a reasonably straightforward grid)? Ok, so the Americans took a devious route, and the ambushers still knew what the route would be?
The 1000 meters is not “disinformation”. I calculated it from the satellite imagery - anyone resourceful can. The direct routes are quite obvious. I even went back and cross-checked vs. objects on the ground, to be sure the scaling was not off.
Perhaps YOU have been “disinformed”. What is your source? Show us the route and those ambush points on the map, all correctly scaled. I’m open to the idea that the attackers knew all about the Annex, but would have to see much better proof to accept it as fact. The simpler explanation is that the attackers kept abreast of the escaping Americans, and saw them go to the Annex.
Everyone wants to conjecture, myself included. That’s fine, but in amongst a lot of what we know, a lot of information is unclear, missing, or contradictory. The administration (and likely the CIA) probably ARE a big part of that. Personally, I still think the truth of much of this may be stranger that what any of us can reason now. Heck, even what we do know, that the Americans at the Annex were basically abandoned by their CINC, or that the Administration could be stupid enough to think that the “video” story would work, has a major “WTH?” (or stronger) aspect to it.
Reports say that, at some point in time, this group of men intended to go to the Benghazi Hospital to recover Stevens body. That proved impossible because Al Qaeda surrounded the hospital. Instead, they headed to the Annex, where Doherty and Tyrone Woods (the ex-Seal at the Annex who defied the stand-down orders when he heard that the mission/consulate had come under fire) lost their lives shortly after.
There are good references on these facts (which I don't have at the moment but can be googled). This part of the story is rarely mentioned. Why I think these facts, if true, are critical is because they establish the time when Washington DC knew of Steven's death. Reports from the doctor who worked on Stevens is that he was brought to the hospital about 1am (Benghazi time). A team tried to resuscitate him for 45 minutes, and then he was pronounced dead.
If the Tripoli team was going to pick up his body, Washington DC knew Stevens was dead at least by 10pm Wash, DC time.
Obama, Hillary and everyone else monitoring events knew Stevens was dead by 10 pm. I have no way to prove this, but I suspect Obama also knew that even Doherty and Woods were dead before he went to bed to rest for his trip to Las Vegas the next day.
The administration had all night to work a story to sell to the public.
