If you don’t comply then you aren’t providing the proof that you are acceptably insured and you pay the tax penalty. I think they’re OK with that.
What is your take on that document in the link I posted?
My employer takes out $ for the healthcare, so
A) government already knows I have healthcare coverage.
B) the employer should be the ones filling out the paperwork.
My take is that’s why I buy tax preparing software and hopefully they will figure it out in the next couple of years before it becomes an issue. My guess is there will be a new checkbox on the W2 where in it is indicated whether or not your employer has provided you with acceptable insurance and informed the government of same, so if that box says they haven’t told the government you’ll have to and if it says they have you don’t have to.
