The Illinois governor wants the minimum wage at $ 10.00/hr. If he succeeds it will just put some more kids on the streets, especially from minorities who in turn will peddle dope and when things don’t work out they just shoot up the place and each other and once again we will have Chicago in the lead with the murder rate. And what will they do next? Scream their bloody heads off that we need stricter gun control.

Here in North Dakota, you can’t get anyone to work for only $9/hr.

Actually poster that is not to far off.

If they raise the minimum wage to $9 or $10 an hour but do not adjust the tax tables then more lower income people pay taxes. Couple that with a reduction in the work week to increase over time and suddenly a lot more people become tax payers

Of course inflation rises but then the low income people simply ask the government for help which because it is now taxing a greater percentage of the population it can give.

In a sense so tax reforms could go for this as it is a way to spread the tax base to the stupid. If done as a one time deal it would effectively debase the currency which would then stabilize at lower level. So $10 an hour would equal $.50 an hour before but now the $.50 an hour workers would pay income tax.

But I doubt Obama is smart enough to have figured that out

I wonder, if Boehner had the balls to force through the House a bill raising minimum wage to $100/hr, what would the Democrat Senate and Obama do with it? Stand with greedy corporations to deny working Americans a “living wage,” or pass it, knowing the unemployment rate would go to 95% in less than a month?

Hmm. San Francisco raised its minimum wage to $10.29/hour and it damaged employment and business in general.

You can tell they're not too upset about that. In the the name of helping the poooor, they price themselves out of hiring very many entry-level workers.

9.00...OK, but why stop there, now that the rules of economic forces no longer apply to the economy...

Mark my words. The stock market will drop significantly tomorrow not only for this minimum wage advocacy but for the SOTU overall. Not since FDR has there been a president more at war with business than Zero.

So how does this guy, and Dems generally, draw so much corporate support?

What makes you think the dems wouldn’t vote for it? When companies start laying off it’ll be the corporations’ fault.

don, not long after Beck’s TV show started some black guy suggested giving everyone a million dollars.

Obama calls for raising minimum wage to $9 an hour

Why $9? Why not $15? Or $25?

I know, let's make America a country of millionaires and make the minimum wage $250/hr!? I mean, why should lawyers get that much money when a moron who dropped out and can't sweep floors DOESN'T!?? After all, fair is fair!!

Republicans have an opening here. They should introduce a bill to raise the minimum wage to $50 an hour, then accuse the Democrats of not wanting working people to have decent wages. The Democrats will be forced to explain why raising it that high will kill jobs. then they’ve made our argument for us. Meanwhile, the GOP makes the Democrats look uncaring nad unfeeling (which they are.)

That will do wonders for the employment situation.

Well, I don't know about you, but I am so relieved that when this passes, people will have enough money to pay their astronomical Obamacare health care cost increases.

Who dares say that Obama is not a genius at these things

This really benefits the business owners. Obmacare increases their costs per employee, but raising the minimum wage raises the cost per employee. Oh wait, it doesn't benefit them. Well, I guess they will have to lay off more minimum wage people.
