“What is the cost of living in Puerto Rico? “

It’s pretty high, and electricity is 4 times the cost of stateside, which affects everything

I’m still chuckling about how paying 10%, or 20%, more for the Swiss chocolates I bought for my mom this morning will alleviate the need for some Puerto Rican free-loader to leech off of the food stamp program.

i NEVER said they weren't good people... just that it seemed like a lot of them weren't working, and even working people get food stamps depending on their income

i also used to live on St.Croix, now there is a REAL mad house

Or that doubling the price of imported oil will leave the price of American oil unchanged.

Note that it is the “federal” and not “feral” government.

Leave it, fitting.

Especially if you are a teenager living with a Puerto Rican in Cleveland...

On the contrary.

What is needed is for American companies to hire Americans, in America.

Then cut taxes.

By sending American jobs overseas, all we do is throw Americans out of work, and increase the cost on government.

Bring back US jobs. With more people working, less demand will be places on the government.

Then cut taxes.

So they get 25% of their allotment in cash.
An even better deal than in the US.

Puerto Rican parasites sometimes move to the states.

Ariel Castro--kidnapped, chained, raped and brutalized three girls for ten years.

FAMILY HISTORY---the Castro family was one of the first Hispanic families in Cleveland, coming from the town of Yauco in Puerto Rico after World War II. Ariel’s father, Nona Castro, opened a used-car lot. One of Ariel’s uncles, Julio “Cedi” Castro, opened the Caribe Grocery and became a prominent figure in the community....honored in 1996 as one of the top 12 Hispanics in Ohio.

Another Puerto Rican is Victor Perez, Cleveland's chief prosecutor. Perez preened as a proud native of Puerto Rico as he announced charges against the brute Castro last Wednesday.

Clearly, the evil Castro got away with brutalizing three girls (and others?) for so long b/c of "ethnic solidarity" that is poisoning our culture, our government----including law enforcement.

Witness Cleveland's Asst Prosecutor Perez---present at the first press conference (AKA The Original Amateur Hour). This self-dealing simpleton had the audacity to pump his heinous ethnic solidarity agenda.......he used the brutalized girls for his purposes---as an opporunity to score points for "ethnic solidarity."

While all America was anxious that justice prevail for the three brutalized girls, the bassmole Asst prosecutor used the press conference to proselytize---to announce he, too, was a Puerto Rican (like the monstrous Castro family).

The barely literate imbecile Asst Prosecutor (poster boy for affirmative action) actually insisted we should not paint all Puerto Ricans as criminals. The dumbo failed to realize HE was the problem-- forcing on the public his ethnic solidarity poison at a time when the nation hungered for justice for these horrific crimes.

The self-dealing latino infected the discourse on justice for the three brutalized girls. They should show him to the door and kick his incompeten *** to the curb.

WERE COPS TOLD "HANDS-OFF" PUERTO RICANS? As well, the Cleveland police are beneath contempt---being called to the horror house---walking away---then conveniently "losing" the call records to cover their incompetent ***es.

Puerto Rican Disability Fraud Investigated ---Sept 11, 2011---WSJONLINE

EXCERPT The Social Security Administration's inspector general is investigating a case of potentially widespread disability fraud in Puerto Rico, two people familiar with the matter said, part of the agency's stepped-up efforts to tackle abuses in the financially struggling program.

The inspector general, Patrick O'Carroll, told an audience at an Aug. 30 disability-examiners conference that the investigation was tied to a pharmaceutical plant that recently closed in Puerto Rico, with 300 employees losing their jobs.

Shortly after the layoff, 290 of the 300 former employees applied for Social Security disability benefits and they all used the same doctor, who lived far from the plant, Mr. O'Carroll told the audience. Mr. O'Carroll didn't identify the doctor, whose identity couldn't be learned.

Jonathan Lasher, an assistant inspector general at the agency, wouldn't comment on the case, but said, "The office of the inspector general is continuing to pursue any number of fraud allegations in Puerto Rico related to the Social Security disability program."

The investigation comes as part of a stepped-up presence in the U.S. commonwealth by the inspector general's office following a March article in The Wall Street Journal that showed how much easier it is to win Social Security disability benefits on the Caribbean island compared with any of the 50 U.S. states.

In 2010, the Social Security Administration awarded benefits in 63.4% of its initial decisions in Puerto Rico, compared with much lower rates elsewhere. In Arizona, for example, benefits were awarded in initial applications in 35.6% of the cases. Nine of the 10 top U.S. zip codes for workers collecting Social Security disability benefits are in Puerto Rico, according to government data.---SNIP---

Might be a little off topic, I know Puerto Rico residents are citizens, but do they pay taxes? I guess I don’t understand how it all works and what the advantages are to them of Puerto Rico not being a state?

I understand this is about fraud, that is why I said it was off topic, I am just wondering why Puerto Rico never became a state.

Actually repealing the 16th amendment and replace the revenue with tariffs and a nrst would be perfect.

How the heck do you sign up for food stamps? Seems like everyone is on them. Are there college courses that you can take?

I don’t disagree. Flat tax would be an option, also. (Not arguing for one or the other).
