If he was on Valium, going on a murder spree would be about the last thing on his mind. Unless he was SOOOOO roided out his mind was already gone (added to the deployments). Which I suppose is indeed possible.

FSN served with this guy. He even posted pictures of the two of them in country and said this guy’s alleged actions didn’t match the man he knows. It was easy to infer the fellow simply went nuts. There was probably something building up for a long time, and then there was a trigger and off the rails he went.

In an American civilian courtroom I have little doubt this guy would be hurried off to a padded cell forever, not executed. But the army needs him executed for PR purposes, and they may have a valid point about that, if it prevents suicide bomber revenge missions against our military.

You can lay the blame, if one must, on the leadership. It is the leadership that lays down the cokimaimi 'rules of engagement'. Had the same thing in Nam. Makes one wonder how many lives were lost because of the 'rules of engagement'. Because some idiot wanted to win the 'hearts and minds' of people who don't want their 'hearts and minds' won.

All that “hearts and minds of the enemy” crap is our [dripping sarcasm] “beloved” O’Bongo defending his own faith and his allegiance to it’s barbaric adherents.

..."one of the worst atrocities of the Afghanistan war..."

Yahoo doesn't count Taliban murders, burning schoolgirls alive, bombing markets, bombing the Red Cross as atrocities. Only Americans commit atrocities.
