I’d like to see a sequel to District 9 that resolves the half done story.
SYFY’s Defiance is an interesting show because it takes place after 7 alien races were allowed to settle but populations grew and tensions flared leading to a global war. The show takes place some 10 or 15 years after the war that had been fought to a standstill and all the races had basically fallen to trying to get by.
Hollywood seems obsessed with these apocalyptic and decimated Earth movies.
Of course, they were obsessed with them throughout the last quarter of the last century, too.
I think Hollywood was rather surprised (and disappointed) that we woke up on January 1, 2000, and found the planet still chugging along.
I saw the extended trailer online ... as a YouTube ad! That was plenty.
Yeah. I liked Dances with smurfs despite an idiotic storyline. It was just visually stunning.
The five-spoked wheel in the sky is the government employee neighborhoods in Maryland and Virginia. Those tax payer paid for areas are doing quit well. And of course Dear Leader and the rest of the politicians and government run media are the center of the wheel.
Now there are some good conservative science Fiction
writers working David Drake etc. Getting them to
the screen will be another matter, as will maintaining
the core of their writings.

MATT DAMON! - F.A.G.
Pandorum was an awesome movie, even after having to suffer through Dennis Quaid. Ben Foster was great and Antje Traue ... oooh, mega hot. (Yes I had to look her name up.)
Movies can be good or bad, even despite their politics.
Some have opinions on particular movies that vary greatly—they loved them, hated them, whatever.
But the article by John Nolte is spot on—it is all about hypocrisy!
I can’t take being lectured by a Left wing actor, singer, movie mogul, director, producer, sports athlete...
Their opinion of things political are no more valid than yours or mine or Sandra Fluke’s, yet we all get them spewed out to us by a fawning press and fanboys/girls like they are words engraved on stone tablets.
I hate it and I hate them! I am a hater! LOL! And yes, where I spend my money—which is not unlimited—is very much influenced by any of these so-called celebrities Left wing political rantings.
As far as I’m concerned, they are the ones giving us Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Kerry, Dean, Clinton, Hillary, etc., etc. because of their influence on the thinking of the low information voter.
If I wasn’t a peaceful Christian man (and God please forgive me), I’d like to stick a knife through their collective Hollywood/NFL/NBA/TV Land heads, ha!
I saw a Learning Channel or Discovery Channel piece around Christmastime about a potential orbiting space station a mile long (or longer) for the escapees of a “dead Earth” to flee to. And in this proposal, it was said that it should include persons from all economic levels of life, not just the wealthy or accomplished.
Let’s also mention Isaac Asimov, whose “I, Robot,” “Foundation” trilogy, and short story “Nightfall” were all commentaries on society and where we were headed in the future.
Film Actors Guilt!
Blomkamp sets the dystopian juices flowing with images of future sprawling slums and urban ruin that one might initially take to be Mexico City or Sao Paulo but that are soon identified as belonging to Los Angeles in 2154. Most of the beleaguered inhabitants seem to speak Spanish and do menial labor if they do anything at all, while good health care is very difficult to come by.Weird coincidence, huh? Gosh, it's almost as if everyone associated with the production are racists. Oh, but wait, it's all due to discrimination -- better raise taxes, just not on the entertainment industry which is advocating for the abused poor.

It sounds like a description of today’s Detroit, except substitute Jeantela for Spanish.
