From the trailers I saw on TV, I figured this movie was just a futuristic version of OWS...
I did like “District 9” though... Those governmment thugs? “They blowed up REAL GOOD!”

Won’t be seeing this. It’s the “helpless brown people can only be saved from racist oppression by enlightened white man” cliche that animates modern liberal-wet-dream cinema from To Kill A Mockingbird ( when at least it was a fresh idea) through Mississippi Burning through Amistad through Avatar, etc. etc.

Back in the late 80's there was a yellow cinder-block liquor store by the name of Alberstone up Washington Boulevard from Culver City. There, you could buy cognac for upwards of $3,500 per bottle...
...with case lot discounts.

That’s a great catch. But it was called “The Cloud Minders.”
Well done though!

Thank you. I keep forgetting it’s “minders” not “miners”. The people living in the clouds are not mining anything. The people living on the surface are to the benefit solely of those living on the clouds,

Just sick of all of them and their stupid agenda.

Been reading Baen stuff for probably 20 years.
Niven and Pournelle fit that bill, as well. Jerry’s “blog” (he hates the word, but arguably he had the first one, period) is great reading. It’s the only web site I send money to besides Free Republic.

Watching their vids is a guilty pleasure. It’s like watching a train wreck, you know you shouldn’t, but you can’t turn away. Like looking into the dystopian future.

Yes. It’s not enough that they spend more on pool boys than we pay in car payments. Or water bills higher than most home mortgages (Streisand).
These Atticus/algore worshipping phonies want to feel good about themselves. Sasha Cohen (’Bruno’) stuck a pin in the Angelenos’ balloons by using Mexicans as furniture.

I don’t.
I loved `District 9’ but so many of the really good indies don’t sequel[1] well. Off the top of my head the only indie sequel I can think of that didn’t rate 9 or 10 lewinskies was Boondock Saints II — probably because Duffy worked very hard at NOT making it look like a sequel.
What can Blomkamp again say about apartheid without repeating himself?
