From the trailers I saw on TV, I figured this movie was just a futuristic version of OWS...

I did like “District 9” though... Those governmment thugs? “They blowed up REAL GOOD!”

Won’t be seeing this. It’s the “helpless brown people can only be saved from racist oppression by enlightened white man” cliche that animates modern liberal-wet-dream cinema from To Kill A Mockingbird ( when at least it was a fresh idea) through Mississippi Burning through Amistad through Avatar, etc. etc.

I loved `District 9’ but so many of the really good indies don’t sequel[1] well. Off the top of my head the only indie sequel I can think of that didn’t rate 9 or 10 lewinskies was Boondock Saints II — probably because Duffy worked very hard at NOT making it look like a sequel.

What can Blomkamp again say about apartheid without repeating himself?
