A lot of these horses are going to be put down. The owners won’t be able to pay for upkeep with no money coming in. I sometimes wonder if the NYC vote was rigged. Was Weiner paid to run to take all the heat off DeBlasio?

Is there a greener form of transportation than a horse and carriage?Yes. A man on a bicycle.

They are not humane. ... It's over. That just happens to be de Blasio's opinion of little human babies in the womb.

That’s like taking the trolley cars out of San Francisco. I know they did at one time but they finally said “ f*&^ *^^t”.
This is the communist way. Distract so you will not think about what’s really wrong so they can continue with their agenda.
Just say back off to these traitors.

De Blasio stated, “ ... horse carriages ... are not humane.”
They’re equine, not humane.

Irish people live in Ireland, and Ive never heard a brogue on a carriage driver.Always a good idea to read the article before commenting. There is an imbedded YouTube interview with one of the Irish vendors which sheds a lot of light on the both the NYC carriage trade and the Irish involvement in it.

“I had no idea that this was an Irish trade. I always thought it was an eccentric trade. Irish immigrants to New York are some of the worst leftist, America-haters I have ever met.”
I wish to heck I could harrumph and say ‘how dare you’ but my fathers family makes it impossible...think Ted Kennedy.

The Irish love Ted Kennedy and despise the IRA. Sometimes my people are just not very bright...

If the Germans had bombed Pearl Harbor, it would have been over. You are right.

O, my! Another indication that Di Blasio is a raving maniac.
Right! Destroy all NYC traditions and replace them with squalid, smelly “Occupy” vagrants.
That will really boost the tourist trade!

You didn't bother to read the source article, did you? NYC's carriage trade is highly regulated and supervised, and its horses receive excellent care to include plenty of daily and weekly rest and even pasture vacation.
Horses are expensive to keep alive, safe and healthy, and they justify that expense when they are allowed to work. But when the opportunity to work is prohibited, the unintended consequences for most are neglect and ultimately slaughter.
To: cicero2k
Most horses like to have a job to do.The really good ones look forward to taking their owners for a ride or cutting some cattle.
