Well, God in the bible says you are welcome. It’s we who often shy away from grace, from kindness that is so kind it embarrasses us. It should embarrass us, embarrass our sins, until we fall willingly into the loving everlasting arms. If we insist on keeping up so much pride that we can’t, that’s up to us.
Even a failure can be helpful if you will seek to learn everything you can from the failure.
“willpower”? Try “choice”. Nothing forces a person to drink. Nothing. It is pure choice. Weakness, sure, but still a choice. Blaming anything or anyone else is simply making excuses to drink.

I drink too much. But it’s the only way I’ve found to get a few hours of sleep. I have REMBD. Check it out on wiki. My doc is not much help, as this condition is not well understood. A month ago, I ripped up both my shudders. Facing surgery.
You are no exception to the fall of mankind and you too have “choices” invested the wrong way.

What I know about sobriety, I already “knew” from my Christian belief. How to put it into practice, that I had to learn in the rooms of AA and then put the principles to work in my life - one step at a time.
I’m not sure what you are looking for; but I will wish for you the one thing that was given me; the one thing I had to have - the desperation of the dying. For this is what an alcoholic or drug addict must have.
There are discussion forums specifically for recovery. That might be an option, if you are not disposed to actual meetings.
Of all the ‘holisms, pride-a-holism is the worst.

Person A’s formula cannot be wished on Person B. Please be careful about that. You can do more harm than good, lead someone down a rabbit trail.

The Lord wants you to “obstinately” assert that He will see you through it, in fact. The devil will buffet you but ultimately upon encountering sustained resistance, he then is forced by God to give up. Even if you fail, you can validly assert that God will help you again. There’s nothing that can whip the Cross if you will stay faithful to that extraordinary offering.
