A glass of wine at dinner. That’s all, if you’re driving.
Getting nicked for more than that will be quite expensive.
Untill the state legislatures in every state ban this sort of highway check, we’ll have to drive sober, which ain’t all bad...
papieren, bitte.
I got stopped at a DUI checkpoint last year. The officer asked, “Are you drunk?” I replied, “No.” He just looked at me for about 15 seconds then waived me through. So I get and appreciate the tactics in the video. But I never drink and drive so I have no problem answering one question.
Once you opt to partake in the PRIVILEDE of driving, then you need papers.
That has always been the case. Always.
So you're saying cops are dishonest?
This crap might work in some places in Florida, but if you try it in some places I know of, they’ll bring out the drug sniffing dogs, the dogs will alert on your car, and drugs will be found in your car.
So you’re saying cops are dishonest?
The Cops have a job to do and are rewarded for it.
If they get it wrong, it becomes a “Customer Service” problem.
Be polite, be courteous, be respectful and be on your way, but be a smart a$$ and see what happens.

I agree with this advice.

This is an interesting video, and obviously the officers accepted the paperwork and passed the car through.
...
I suspect this flyer was crafted by a lawyer. And kudos to the cops for knowing the driver’s rights.
They do NOT fear average citizens, even if they are knowledgeable of the law.
That's what the non-Jews said in Nazi Germany too. "Hey, I'm not a Jew...what do I care if the Jews get stopped and have show THEIR papers..."
Slippery slope we are on here when we allow cops to pull people over for no reason at all other than see if they had anything to drink.
BTW, I'm having a hard time thinking that you can simply toss your papers out the window like that and have the cops just wave you on through. I'm thinking it's not going to happen that way for most people.
It won’t work in Austin. They’ll just drag your ass out of the car, subdue you and take your blood by force.
Wrong. Terms mean everything in statute law. Driving, as defined by statute, is operating a commercial vehicle. Driver is derived from drayage, a commodity. If you are not hauling commodities you are not engaging in privileged activity. If you have no clue as to what I’m talking about, imagine how far behind the eight ball you are? Driving IS a privilege, travelling is NOT.
I can recite the alphabet backwards.....
Very interesting PING
this guy appeared to have two witness passengers with him.
I am thinking that the cops would not stand a chance in court if they busted a window, which seems to be the only option that this guy is giving them.
OTOH, if the driver looked drunk or if there was liquor, guns, or open alcoholic containers in plain sight in the car, then i would imagine that the outcome would have been different (drayage, privelege, state citizen considerations notwithstanding).
Where do you know of that this will happen and how do you know?
Sounds like you have a very low opinion of the honesty and integrity of law enforcement officers.
