Also, the Roman Empire opened up a path for Christian faith to be shared. In places where the empire ended because it was too impractical to extend it (e.g. jungle filled Africa) that advantage would not be present. It was easier to extend into the Orient because that was already a region of trade.

The Anglican and other evangelical churches could have helped (God does not come in denominations), but their success was less on that continent than elsewhere. It looks like a universal spiritual problem.
