I’ve personally witnessed his kindness several times in my life.

Best wishes, Governor Branstad!

Wife was down with a very bad chest cold for two weeks just after Christmas.
It was hard to shake.

Ditto......going on two weeks for me. I have felt like collapsing, too......it will hopefully turn out to be just a bad flu for Gov Bransted.

You are correct. I got zapped by flu in November and it was gruesome. Never even had a cold in 4 years. I had a flu shot in October, but obviously did not help. Now it is January, and I am still feeling weak, and have occasional cough. I got it from my wife. She got it from her office co-workers or patients.

The flu isn’t to be taken lightly as in “it’s only the flu”. It hits some people really hard. A 26 y.o. healthy woman from Nashville died of complications from the flu recently.

https://governor.iowa.gov/2015/01/governor%E2%80%99s-office-releases-statement-regarding-gov-branstad/
“Governor’s Office spokesman Jimmy Centers today provided the following update to the governor’s condition after he fell ill at an event earlier in the day:

“Gov. Branstad is currently alert and resting comfortably at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. He is being observed and hydrated after having flu-like symptoms. The governor did have a flu shot this season. The governor has been admitted and will be kept overnight out of an abundance of caution.”

More information will be released as it becomes available. The governor and lt. governor have canceled their public events for Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, to rest and recover from seasonal illnesses.”

The medical providers are saying that the current strain of the influenza is quite strong in respiratory problems that seem to knock the stuffing out of individuals. The flu shot has been deemed ineffective on this strain. many individuals are taking 6 - 8 weeks to overcome the lingering effects of the flu - coughing, breathing difficulties, some people have succuumbed to a relapse that goes into pneumonia.

Totally agree..

My hubby got the FLU and for two weeks, had a difficult time..He said it is the worst he has felt in 25 years when he then had two massive heart attacks.

Doctor gave him a ‘power shot’ her phrase and then powerful antibiotics for a week..today he said is the first he has felt almost human...

so it is a nasty virus going around and I’ve read where PA. residents have been hard hit.
