And yet that 5 degrees, applied over several decades is HOW WE GOT HERE. There was NO reversing of course when the R’s had it. Just smaller steps.

And somehow those smaller steps got us conservatives giddy with visions of rolling liberalism back.

It did not happen. We JUST ELECTED an R House, and yet here we are, still allowing Obama free reign/rein.

Tell me again about how the R’s are better for us.

Just be wasting my breath - you obviously think a free fall to inevitable crash and burn is preferable to damage control to try to have something salvageable when we finally manage to get a real conservative in the WH. Even that won't be enough if we don't manage to give him a Senate and House that will support him. The Left has made it's "progress" one inch at a time and we refuse to work in inches - it's either all or doom and despair. To quote Pogo, "We have met the enemy and he is us."

If we aren't willing to take every inch we can get, and stay focused over a period of decades, we will never turn things around, yet we stamp our self-righteous little feet and pout because we always seem to be losing ground. Our side is comprised of lazy idiots who would rather bitch about how bad it is instead of actually investing ourselves to improve our own state. We are every bit as deplorable as the Left that we mock as stupid and lazy while they continue to plug away, decade after decade, and winning battle after battle.

If we aren’t willing to take every inch we can get,......

Please, show an inch we have gained by electing those R’s. All they do is give ground. Every time.

There you have it - no use in even bothering because we can't win.

How about, instead of "taking inches", it is phrased, How about we stop letting them, amputate a whole leg when all we really need to let them take is a toe?

The real upshot is that way too many cross their fingers for a Cruz, make a lot of noise about conservatism, and sit on their butts without donating a penny to try to push for conservative candidates. I would imagine that FR has a higher percentage than the general population that might be willing to donate, but still sucks as far as how many actually invest their cash towards the cause - that makes us a bunch of defeatists who carp about the side that will expend every effort for their cause while we blow smoke up each others butts.

There you have it. We already have the ability to stop the amputations, and instead, the House is just playing along and passing the scalpel.

Contributions HAVE been made, how do you think we got the House back? And with that, what have we gained?

All it would take is for all those elected to stand up. Yet once again they haven’t.

Why are you even here? I keep hearing how we haven't/can't/won't but no sense that you really want to win anything. Reality may suck, but it takes a sustained determination and effort to make progress against the machine that's been allowed to run free for so long. If you ain't willing to suit up, why even show up?

We're all discouraged and disgusted, but unless we are willing to whittle away over the long haul, we might as well just wave the white flag now. There's a few key folks that survived our attempt (Boehner and McConnel) and we need to keep up the pressure to get them replaced. Numbers are good but having such folks in "leadership" positions is killing us.

Let's hope that Cruz is elected and that we don't lose any ground in the House/Senate. He's not too shy to use the bully pulpit to take away the curtain that they hide behind. The trouble is, even a Cruz in the WH will have an uphill battle and will need our continuing support. There is no quick fix - it will take a sustained effort over a few decades to have a chance to put thing right. We need to be able to suck up the crap that keeps getting on our shoes and not concede a single thing that we can do to create some stumbling blocks for the Left.

"Compromise" suck the big one but we cannot afford to throw hissy fits and give them a loaf when we might be able to only let them have a few crumbs.

All or nothing sounds great when we think we have a chance at the "all", but it is a losing strategy when we have 60+ years of lassitude to overcome. The silent majority needs to coalesce and start making some noise - it was decades of disgust without tangible action that allowed us to fall this far.
