So Salon doesn't know the difference between civilian police and Army National Guardsmen? Starting to think we should bring back the draft.

Liberals believe that those children will go hungry if they don’t have for school lunches. And they don’t wonder at all why those children don’t come back from summer break looking like Ethiopian refugees.

If they found out Five Guys gave out free burgers to the children they would be freaking out about how it is not healthy. On a related note, I think I will patronize my local Five Guys soon.

I’ve had discussion with some police officers who think of “us”, as opposed to themselves and fellow officers, as civilians.

Of all the issues in the world to worry about.......
This is Kid Shelleen’s of Salon number #1 issue.....
Get a life Kid Shelleen and address real issues.....
If Five Guys and Whole Foods wants to do this, then more power to them. It's their business and not yours Kid.
Hey Kid how about you get your own business and give it all away for free? If Kid is unwilling to do that, then sit down and shut up.
To: Kid Shelleen
Salon is on the side of the rioters who caused these kids not to be able to eat a school lunch

ROFL! I am no fan of the National Guard being used against American citizens (local militia should be suppressing riots), but I LOVE that the Left has their panties in a twist over this!

I don't know what you are talking about. Maybe you need to work on your reading comprehension. I posted this article to show how loony the left wing media can be.
Here's a hint. Sometimes FReepers post articles from left wing sites so we can all be entertained by the witty comments of our FRiends.

YUP and I have been listening to WBAL to get more news about the riots. I heard an interview with a guy who worked at the CVS that got burned down. He was saying how tough it was to get a job before the riot because no big chains want to set up in Baltimore. In 5 years the libs will be crying racism because no big chain stores will want to stay in Baltimore.

I am so daggone glad I stopped at Whole Foods on the way home!

Public school closures meant high-need kids couldn't get free and reduced-price lunches
Wish they would teach these kids in public school that these meals are not "free". Just because their worthless parents won't feed them doesn't mean that the rest of us aren't footing the bill.

Kid,
I’m sorry. I meant to address Joanna Rothkopf the author of the article and not you.

"Salon is SHOCKED Whole Foods and Five Guys gave free food for National Guard, "tone-deaf police stunt""
WF and FG were obviously just doing what they thought was a civic-minded thing, providing food to National Guard troops put into a tense situation, and didn't realize it was their responsibility to provide food for Baltimore's entire public school population.
But those public school kids have parents, or at least one available parent, and the parents are probably on food stamps, so they have food already, even if they are also mooching off the school lunch program.
The people at Salon are ***holes. How much food did THEY contribute to ANYONE? None.
To: Kid Shelleen
I think enlightened1 was criticizing Salon, not you.

Note to Salon:
If the looter Mamas had not spent their E.B.T. and Welfare checks on Hair and Nail doos or give the cash to the looter Daddies for Malt Liquer and crack hey’d have food in their homes!

Liberals wonder why we spend more and more each year on schools and get less and less in return.
The more and more is going to non-education-related expenses such as more administrators, food, metal detectors and guards (because they're too afraid to whup the bad actors), lawsuits to victims of pervert teachers, etc.
In poker, all you need is a chip and a chair.
We need to go back to a simpler time when in school all you needed was a teacher and a chair.
To: Enlightened1
Apology accepted FRiend. It’s funny because I found out about this because one of the office liberals was going around trying to collect for a charity that was going to provide lunches for the kids. I told her to try and get some money from the Clinton Foundation.
