Of course, a lot of people, possibly including your friend, find out after the fact that when it comes time to file their taxes, those subsidies aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Obamacare must go. Period. Full stop. End of story.
<>Only if the Seventeenth Amendment were repealed.<>
Yep, which is why I wrote, “There is nothing radical in returning the states to the senate.”
Is it a tax credit or subsidy? I thought it was a subsidy so that, i.e., if the premium were $100/mo and their subsidy was $85/mo, their actual payt would be $15/mo, vs having a credit for 12 x $85 to their 1040 in April?
It is a tax credit which can be paid to your insurance company AHEAD of time, but if your insurance company is paid too much, you get to make it up come next tax time. If you should have been given more, it comes off your taxes. If you failed to get insurance, there is a tax penalty which would go against your refund (IRS is not authorized to collect the penalty outside of a refund, but you’re more than welcome to pay it anyway...)
I was medically retired from active service in February, and I’ve been blessed that I’ve never had to pay a dime out-of-pocket for my family’s healthcare since 18. My wife, who at 26 has the lung capacity of a long distance runner, still would pay $280 every other week in premiums just for a “bronze” plan.
Health care is broken in this country.
Leave it to Obama. It’ll soon be broke, bankrupt and FUBAR.
SC decision doesn’t matter. If Obamacare subsidies survive, the system will soon collapse. If the ruling goes the other way, the Pubbies - at least enough of the “moderates” - will vote for a temp fix to avoid having the media say bad things about them. That “temp” fix will become an annual thing - like the doc fix or a continuing budget resolution. Anything to avoid being associated with the conservatives.
It’s been broken ever since the health care system as a whole decided to mask their prices from one state to the next and one hospital to the next in the 1980s. There is nothing but an upward pressure on prices. Those taxes added to the whole shebang by Obamacare just put more steam through the pipe. When will it burst? People are already going bankrupt trying to pay for their cancer treatments.
They make 17k and get a $500 a month subsidy.
“How is it the poorer folks get much better plans for free or near nothing and the middle class pays through the roof for bottom of the barrel services?”
Socialism/fascism.
“Plan C is great. Repeal every word of ObamaCare Cruz.”
Luv it, plan C! I’ll be borrowing that.
You get a lot of voters voting for freshers and the FreeBSD party that keeps them poor.
Nearly 87 percent of all Obamacare enrollees qualify for a subsidy
Listen up you stupid Governors of the 34 States, WHO CARES if a bunch of people lose their Welfare Health Insurance, give them all a One Way ticket to another State that has Welfare Health Insurance. it will be way cheaper in the long run.
