Appears so. However:
The deal will mean about 25 to 35 new positions at the Georgia plant, said Drew Gorman...
or porkypine
what is the range and speed?
Looks like that ‘point’ would, aerodynamically speaking, not pierce the air as fast as a real point?
Can someone weigh in this?
The resulting bullet in the PolyCase Ruger ARX line has several advantages over the traditional metal jacket bullet, according the companys website, most notably that its cheaper and faster to produce with very little waste and doesnt contain lead.
...
Why bother trying to make the libruls happy?
Thank you, I have an inherent interest in not having my body armor pierced if at all possible
There’s plenty of valid reasons to explore alternatives.
Cheaper manufacturing? not just cheaper products, but faster response to increase in demand (notice how lead-based production didn’t keep up with the demand bubble a couple years ago).
New design? we always need more effective terminal ballistics, improved accuracy, etc.
Works for me.
No, copper is a poison too. Wonder if this will work with depleted uranium?
Yes, the ability to resist frictional forces from the atmosphere is decreased, but not so much as to be concerned about at normal pistol ranges of 25 yards or less.
At typical rifle target distances that much disruption of the bullets surfaces would have a large affect on ballistic coefficient, trajectory and accuracy. The degradation of accuracy is because the "notches" can not be formed with absolute precision witch affects the bullets concentricity with respect to its axis.
Me thinks if one shot a coon with this round in 45 AUTO, that the coon would done be blowed up real good.

Do you realize how much CO2 is generated by oxidizing gunpowder? Think of all those poor starving Polar Bears!
Thanks, I web searched for an answer before posting... still it is something that deserves a hard link on the FR posting help page I got to from the main page.
When the FBI and Secret Service convert to these, then I will consider them.
Until then, not so much.
dear tumbl,
Nope. The design of the ‘new’ bullet is a THREE blade Phillips screwdriver head, whereas the ORIGINAL Lehigh ammunition is a FOUR blade model. Ruger is polycoating their bullet, Lehigh is a solid copper projectil, and not a copper-based, like Ruger’s.
