Why was Hillary saving documents from the G.W. Bush presidency written by SecState Powell on her private server?...for the same reason she got hold of a thousand FBI files "by mistake" when she and Billy first hit the White House - to mine them for possible damaging information to be used for future blackmail if needed - like getting the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to rewrite the Obamacare law rather than declaring it unconstitutional.....

The bottom line of the memo shows it to have been declassified on 1/23/2014.

Nope. That bottom line is Hillary’s email declassification date. In contrast, the top 2nd line shows 4/1/2012 as being Colin Powell’s original note’s declassification date.

Then why does it say just to the right of that "declassify on: 04-01-2022.?"
It doesn't make sense to put that on a memo that has just been declassified.
As GreyFriar said in post #17...
Under EO-12958, DECL: 04/01/12 meant that it would be reviewed for declassification on that date.

I’m just trying to figure it out too.
If this was part of the State Dept. FOIA release I’ll keep a little hope alive that the FBI will find this much and more in her “deleted” emails. Perhaps a pattern of collecting archived documents for her personal use.

Because that is the procedure in marking the document for the declassification review date. If the reviewer determines that there is no continuing reason to declassify the document, it is thus declassified on that date, which is 10 years after creation. Also EO 12958 was modified by Bush (13292) and Obama (13526).

I’m confused again then. I’m not sure what question you’re answering since 2022 is 20 years after creation of the document.

my apologies. I didn’t realize 2022 wasn’t a ‘typo’. However that date was established by the declassification reviewer who did the declassification with redactions to the document that is posted. thus in 2022, the redacted portions should be declassified.

Ahhhhh, OK. And that was done in 2012? 2014?
I appreciate the clarifications. This stuff is all Greek to me.

It would have been done in 2014, but the EO is based upon ten year increments from the original classification date.
