Scooter Libby did nothing. He simply did not remember and recall things to the satisfaction of the questioners. So he was jailed for perjury. Valerie Plame was “outed”, if you can out someone who is well known and whose position is not a secret, by someone else, who was not prosecuted for it. The whole charade was an effort to bring down Cheney, but it failed and Scooter Libby paid the price.
Rey Gowdy is an honorable man, and a great prosecutor, but he is not effective at controlling others (and as stated himself, I believe, that he is not the leader type). So the committee is out of control and I have no doubt this vexes him terribly. I will add that what he likely means, when he says it’s not about Hillary, is that it is about getting to the truth. The problem is, when you say it’s not about Hillary, people interpret it differently.
