He’s not suing her so I guess she must be telling the truth.
If Bill sues, it proves his innocence, but if the women sue it proves... What, exactly?

I don’t think they are making up that they were on drugs and had sex with Cosby.
The above is clearly not a defense of Cosby’s morals.

There is the chance these women were at places in their lives where they thought they would be stigmatized by going after him.
I don’t honestly know, but I’d suspect that once one woman came forward, the others simply fell in line wanting to see justice done.
A good retort would be, all the others wanted a payday too.
Right now, I really don’t know. As I have said, it doesn’t look good.
I’m thinking they’re looking for a payday. Then wasn’t there one of them who said she was fifteen at the Playboy mansion when Bill was there and had molested her? What was a fifteen YO doing there in the first place?
One of his drugging victims was allegedly a girlfriend who was having consensual sex with him. It’s not a matter of “having” to drug anyone. I think Cosby gets a sexual thrill from being with women who are helpless.
I haven’t paid any attention to this, except the headlines.
That seems a reasoned observation.
I’m not saying he’s guilty. I’m saying I wouldn’t want to have that many women making those claims against me.
It wouldn’t look good, that’s for sure.
He is goofy. Discovery could probably open up his sealed settlement.
i think proving no physical evidence exists might be difficult. for example, the evidence might exist but no one has found it yet or someone is holding onto it. you can’t prove a negative.
so it would boil down to he said, she said, except that there are 40 or 50 otherwise seemingly unconnected women who have made allegations. so what is the chance of this happening in real life? if the juries think it is small, then he pays. if this is true, then the countersuit seems like just a legal tactic to wear down the (alleged) victims.
I’m not quite sure that it is SOP in these types of cases but someone out there might know.
Also the women making the allegations might have reason to expect this coming, and be prepared for it.
Whether he did it or not is not the main point, IMO.
A dangerous precedent has been set.
ANYBODY can now point a finger at YOU and claim you did thus-and-such to them 40 years ago, without a shred of evidence. And dozens of other extortionists can jump on the bandwagon.
You will now be bankrupted attempting to prove your innocence.
My good-looking, happily married son started his own business, on track to become a multimillionaire within a few years.
He’s had considerable difficulty already with slutty women and gay men throwing themselves at him. He’s installed a surveillance system to carefully document every interaction with every client, out of fear he might be “cosbyed” later on, when he’s rich.
It is interesting to speculate how this must be playing in LA high society. And what happens to the LA scene if the women drop their lawsuit or if Cosby prevails in civil court? Alleged Cosby like behavior towards women becomes the new normal?
