This is the guy who promised to legalize pot as his top priority.

When did he say it was his top priority?

This is important because, if some do not get the GOP candidate they want, they can teach the GOPe a lesson they won’t forget and vote for Gary. Even if he takes a small number of votes, in close states it could make a difference in electoral votes. Ralph Nader syphoned off enough Democrat votes to keep Gore out of the White House. Hillary should be (maybe she will) help bankroll his campaign.

Another LOSERTARIAN doing his bit for the establishment by draining a small percentage of “low-information” conservatives away and tipping a number of races to the ‘RATS.
...........................................................................................................................
By running for president he tips races for other offices to the Rats? How does that work?
**********************************************************************
Sometimes by having a candidate on the LOSERTARIAN ticket at the top, a number of LOSERTARIAN race “down ballot” get candidates to volunteer who might otherwise volunteer (and leave the “slot” unfilled). The presence of a LOSERTARIAN sometimes will draw votes (from the low-information crowd) that would otherwise go to the Republican. An example is the recent race for Virginia Governor. The LOSERTARIAN drew off enough votes to possibly have made the difference. A contributing factor was, of course, the GOPe national party’s RNC completely throwing Cuccinelli under the bus.

Party Candidate Vote % Votes

Democratic Terry McAuliff 47.8% 1,069,789

Republican Ken Cuccinelli 45.2% 1,013,354

Libertarian Robert Sarvis 6.5% 146,084

N/A Write-in 0.5% 11,087

Total Votes 2,240,314

On other factor is that some states have “lines” where a voter can just select a “line” (e.g., Democrat Party) and all the Democrats on the ballot are checked off. ‘RATS like this because many of their voters are too stupid to go down item by item and be trusted to know who to vote for.

There will be a Libertarian Party presidential candidate whether or not Johnson runs for that nomination.

On the other hand, voting for a true libertarian would send a message to GOP RINOs. I think this guy is more of a flake than a true libertarian.

There *is* a difference this election cycle.
We have Cruz and Trump.
Looking forward to casting a vote for Cruz in the primary though it will not matter.
California is not in play.
One positive is I have yet to hear a political ad.
Satan could run as a democrat and win here.

Okay. I used the wrong algorithm. Still, Johnson didn't affect the election results. He wasn't even that good a guest on Red Eye.

Satan IS your governor, your US Senators, most of your Congresscritters (especially Kevin McCarthy, the “GOP” Pelosi). Satan has also been each and every one of your POTUS electors since the time of Birdbrain Pete Wilson. In California, Satan is a verrrry busy guy. If Cesar Chavez were still alive and he were to run for office, as a pro-life, he would have been a BIG improvement over those whom California did elect.

This a*shole is greatly responsible for why Obama won in ‘12!!!

Not really. Johnson "officially" got 0.99% of the popular vote; if every one of those had gone to Romney, Republicans still wouldn't have won.

It's more the fault of the GOP-e putting up such a pathetic, liberal candidate, by hook or by crook, in the first place.

Might give me someone to vote for if the conservative brainfart lasts into voting time. I’ll have to check him out. I’ll most likely find he’s just another pot-head Liberaltarian (not a true libertarian).

I'll give you one disqualifying point, one that is allyou need: he's in the pockets (or is that the pants) of the sodomite lobby. Turn, and don't even look back.

I'm glad somebody gets this. It's really tiresome to hear GOP party hacks blame fringe third party "spoilers" for their candidate's loss. As I said, they're no better than Democrats who whine about Nader throwing the race to W.

Then again, scapegoating is so much easier than admitting that your party nominates hack candidates who can't inspire the party base to turn out and vote for them (or who are so pitiful that they drive the party base away to vote for third party candidates, as opposed to not voting at all). For example: rather than blaming Perot for Bush and Dole's losses in 1992 and 1996, wouldn't it be more honest to admit that Bush and Dole were sad-sack excuses for Republican candidates?

He’d take significantly more votes from the GOP, as he did last time.

The good news is that the people that choose the Libertarian nominee are hard core nutter activists who may not care that he got a record 1% of the vote and choose some no-name loser instead.

If a well known populist wins the the Republican nomination, Johnson could represent a powerful siren call for free-market conservatives and libertarians. It would be a nightmare, I know... A positive conservative vision can still beat rhetoric and cynicism.
