He also spoke to Rep. Jason Chaffetz in Oct. 2012 about what happened, telling him he never got an order to send help, so I think he would have said something to Chaffetz about being relieved of command. That's far less damning than saying he didn't get a 'go' order.

This is an in extremis situation with an ambassador unaccounted for... I know that there was an automatic response required for any 3-star and above [and that includes ambassadors]... so this would be automatic in Stevens’ case. We know the call went out- they couldn’t deny that because everyone gets that alarm. That means someone had to stop it... that someone has to be the president himself.
These teams and their support keep go-bags with them all the time. Some 3.5 hrs after getting the alarm, they’d be well along in the process.
Ham would not have to be ordered to save the men at Benghazi...if he was in charge of in extremis response teams he’d have to be ordered not to, since response is automatic for an endangered 3-star or above including ambassadors. So he’s not exactly fibbing. I don’t know what he was in charge of though, since the admin claimed AFRICOM was skeletal.

Not getting a CBA when you need it is, for all practical purposes, a forced stand down, but as explained to me it is not an order to go or to stand down, it is approval to cross a border. In Somalia Clinton would force recall of forces trying to nail Aidid even after the coastal waters were crossed, did he not? Obama avoids even that much responsibility.
It was the admin that claimed AFRICOM was skeletal [they used another term implying it was not fully functioning ]- that certainly wasn't the Bush admin's reported intent for that command and was news to me. The Obama admin also implied it was being run out of European command; if I come across the article I'll flag it. I took it to mean that Obama was at the time trying to shut it down to limit our military influence or soothe his antiwar base, as he's doing with the prison at Gitmo, but the events in Mali and the rise of Boko Haram and ISIS turning up in Libya likely prevented further nuetering.

Benghazi has been the most difficult topic for me to cover of anything I’ve covered since 1972.
i continually get different answers on on just about everything I think that I’ve uncovered I get a different answer 6 months later six weeks later.it’s so frustrating. I really smell disinformation going on.otherwise there’s no way you would be getting so many answers for the same questions.

Wow I had no idea!I was thinking he was in Africa. But even being in the US I’m guessing he had the best of information maybe even a live feed from the drone.
One of the links I read claimed that Obama had turned everything over to Panetta and one other guy and then took off and could not be found. if that’s possible if you could not be found to authorize cross-link then what happens!
