Trump is a Billionaire developer who has been a close bedfellow with New Yawk liberals for decades.
He has had no problem using eminent domain twice to make profit, pushing his building agenda.
Based on ample information we have on Trump’s past associations, political positions, and actions, it’s a safe bet that he’ll fall in line with the hive’s agenda.

I’m also apprehensive about completely trusting Cruz, in light of his wife’s Goldman Sachs, CFR, and NAU, as well as his lack of adamantly opposing H1-B Visas, and his questionable stance on TPP / TPA.

WTF do we always have to choose between lesser of two evils?!

I agree that a government employee ripping off property from the public and especially WW2 vets is reprehensible, and moreso if done for private profit.

The only thing worse than our government doing that would be a foreign corporation or foreign country in our supposed sovereign nation doing it to US citizens for private profit -ala Keystone United pipeline.

This is policy I personally do not understand how conservatives have been led to favor. It is one more example that the corporatists in GOPe have convinced us that policy that benefits only global corporations is conservative.

“Trump has no direct link. But He did boot some old lady from her home to build a parking lot. “

Good story. Too bad for you it’s not true.

Trump wanted to buy Vera Coking’s house in 1993. She refused to sell. Atlantic City condemned her house under Eminent Domain. She sued and won.

Vera Coking remained in her house until 2010, when she moved to a retirement home. Her grandson sold the house in 2014.

And people wonder why we hate the federal government out here and support the Bundys and the militias. Perfect example.

Exactly! I know a couple who used to live in Albuquerque who were forced out of their home to expand the Petroglyphs Nat. Mon. in the '90s. This has been going on for decades all over the west.

I knew the story, too. Typical nonsense that we’ve seen posted on threads.

Thanks for posting the details. I forgot her name.

What constitutes a “common occurrence”? That it happens all of the time, on a daily basis, once in a while or just once in a great while?

Actually, this has an important tie-in. The Kelo decision has serious implications as an expansion of governmental authority to use eminent domain to seize private property 'for the public good', even if that 'public good' is to sell it to a crony who will allegedly develop that land and increase the tax rolls.

Now, I, for one consider that a dangerous affront to private property rights, especially when the land seized goes back into the hands of another private individual or corporation, and isn't used for something more vital to the public like a highway.

Trump has no problem with Kelo. I do. YMMV.

The connection to Trump is his affection for use of eminent domain to obtain personal gain. Government takings, Kelo. Texas tea. And the next thing you know, old Trump's a millionaire.

I guess people are afraid that he would, as president, go crazy with this power; although I don't see how the president can affect use of eminent domain one way or the other (setting aside the massive takings associated with Eisenhower's Interstate Highway System), the issue of eminent domain being one for the courts and the Congress and the various state legislators.

The Park Service and the BLM are some of the most evil Fed Agencies to ever exist.

They need a wholesale 'watering'.

Around Fort Myers several years ago an Army guy had bought him some land to retire on at the edge of some land the Government acquired. The Government decided that they wanted his land, and they took it. At first, he refused to surrender it to them. It reached the point to where the Government was going to use deadly force[ they were going to send armed men, a SWAT Team, I believe, I am now going from memory. They had already assembled and were about to move in on him when a cooler head persuaded him to take the Government's off and leave with his life.

And, yes, the Governmental agents will kill you with the same distain the show when they are stepping on a cockroach if you oppose them. On second thought, that does not apply because the Government considers you and me to be cockroaches.

Cliven Bundy and his family along with those who worked for him is extremely lucky to be alive because they went in there with full intentions of killing every living thing there. They did a fair job on the cattle, but they waited a little too long before beginning to kill the people. They had probably wanted to taunt them for a while before they killed them. However, that gave people time to organize and things did not turn out like they planned.

What does Trump have to do with this story ?

Those that suffer from TDS are known to lash out at any given time. It's very much like Tourette's Syndrome where the afflicted has no control over their baser functions.
