No. In his misguided misapplication and understanding of scripture - the people they butchered and subjugated were to be 'okay' with their rulers and subject themselves to them and their pograms.

My bottom line, regardless of the details, is that there was no need for a confrontation.
There was no imminent threat to life that cause these people to be stopped by obviously extremely well armed law enforcement.

But to think that after the four weeks of occupation that the Bundys were going to be allowed to simply drive all the way to John Day for other meetings was foolhardy.
By that time the feds were watching Ammon’s every move. Either through spotters, UAVs, or maybe even satellite imagery with this bunch. They knew when he was leaving and what way he was going.
The answer as to why he and his brother and those others were heading to John Day will be the telling one.
I know they are saying it was to attend a “meeting,” but I think that there is more to it than that.
Were they lured into it? were their assurances? Who arranged it? Why? etc., etc.

Sorry Jeff, but the truth is that does not exist in this country any longer. Not by a long shot. We would be willfully blind to assume it does.
Justice is whatever the State and the courts they pack with Activist Judges say it is. Reality (from personal experience) is that you are guilty until you can prove yourself innocent the moment you step into a courtroom, unless you so happen to be one of the protected and lofted classes the State champions.
True and fair does not exist in America whenever it comes to having ANY dealings with government. A government no longer anchored to biblical and religious principles cannot uphold justice, for justice is whatever they say it is according to the whims and dictates of men in power.
PERIOD.
It is beyond corrupt. It is now despotic.

Why intercept a guy going to see a sheriff? He could have arrested them.

For the sake of discussion, let’s say he was one of those who took down the security camera. That certainly doesn’t seem grounds for getting shot up. Let’s also say, as you imply, that he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Traditionally, ‘slow’ people in society are given a bit of ‘extra consideration’, such as “that boy ain’t quite right in the head”, there certainly was none of that. It doesn’t matter if what (perhaps) he took down was a utility security camera, or what was possibly a camera being used in surveillance of the protestors. Is either grounds for getting shot up? I firmly think these guys chose the wrong hill, but it seems their very worst offense was taking down a security camera. It also seems his paranoia was founded.

The truth about what happened here will come out. And one day, whether on this earth (and that will ultimately be up to us or our descendants) or before a Heavenly Tribunal, it will be set right.

Sounds like it easily could have been a set up...I mean there were nine or ten Federal vehicles waiting for them along the way. either they saw them through s=surveillance as they left and arranged it on the fly...or they knew they were coming from the get go.

At this point I believe True and Fair will only exist in the Kingdom of God.
A government and nation that has expunged God and any reference to Him from the public square while the Faithful looked on in relative silence, is a government and nation that is not interested in what is true or fair, but whatever is politically expedient.
You are correct to say that The Heavenly Tribunal is ultimately where justice will prevail. Americans have abandoned and/or allowed the Measure of what is true and fair to be replaced by the State and it’s agents.
Those of us who know better, and understand our history and heritage, sadly are a gross minority amongst a people who will allow themselves to be destroyed for a lack of knowledge and understanding.
Just read that the different sheriff was in on it.
So back to distrust and verify (if possible) 10 times.
Well, perhaps that is true where you live...I cannot say.
But I have lived my professional life out over the last almost 409 years in numerous places.
North Central Texas (DFW)
southern California (Orange county)
Northern California (Livermore)
Ohio (Cincinnati)
Montana (Dillon)
Utah (south of Salt Lake City)
Idaho (Boise area)
In none of those places would I have ever characterized my own strong belief in Christ or America as a gross minority. Not even close.
Now, I understand that there are places, perhaps particularly the inner cities, and in some very liberal bastions of so-called higher education on the East and West coasts), where that may be the case.
But right now in Idaho I can truthfully say that it is the other way around. I can say the same for the entire Intermountain West, the same for my birthplace in North Central Texas, and most places in Texas outside of some areas of Dallas, Houston, and Austin, etc.
No, IMHO, the situation is not nearly as bleak..at least from my perspective...as you might imagine.
There is hope...and we can pray that that hope is realized. I know I do...and I do and will continue to pray for, work for, and fight for it the best of my ability. And, to teach my kids and grandkids to do the same.

From what I understand, the car was pulled over, the driver put both hands out the window, the feds shot a few times INTO the vehicle, missing everyone apparently, the driver took off- According to the post here- http://freerepublic.com/focus/news/3389222/posts?page=124#124
then later pulled over again, got out, hands up and was walking forward- IF this is the case, how are the militants in the wrong? They apparently were driving to turn themselves in
I was struck by the emotion that the person on the video tried, unsuccessfully, to conceal.
We must, however, remember that in every group such as this, 2 out of 3 people are fed plants.
