TheSalvation Army is one of the largest global service agencies. It is run by a leader of the SA church who works for a salary well under $50K.

It is also my understanding that the WWP is not Second Amendment friendly.

I have no source, but I did read that here at one time.

Anyone recall?

In any event, some of my associates that do vet advocacy work say the best you'll get out of them will be a pat on the back, a nice fluffy blanket and a stuffed bear.

I also am aware of one person that applied for assistance through them and got so mired in the paperwork and disclosure crap (giving WWP credit for everything and allowing use of image) that he just gave up.

So...the jury is out...at least for me...but I lean to the pessimistic side on these so-called vet assistance organizations, ever since I figured out 35 years ago that the VFW was just a place to go get drunk in a dry community.

Or people who have been pushing the program to reform are using the current scrutiny as leverage. People who possibly don’t give a crap about the nominating process but do give a crap about scummy charlatans skimming a luxurious lifestyle from donations intended to help our troops.

Now you make it clear that if defending the Wounded Warriors Project weasels can advance your politics you are going to go there with bells on.

That doesn’t help your candidate, and it is a really scummy behavior to sink into.

The Wounded Warriors Project needs to be reformed or replaced.

Don’t defend them.

I remember a Vet saying to me they had to pay Red Cross back for assistance they received. I have no idea if true.

One of my troops had his father die. The red cross called the squadron and had already arranged a ticket home for him.

Months later he go a letter from a collection agency for $400 the red cross had referred to them. He was never told of the bill nor notified of any action to collect it up until then.

We wound up passing the hat for some relief but he got stuck with part of the bill. When the collection agency found out the circumstances from our commander, they treated him pretty well considering.

In later actions we always referred the troops to the Salvation Army who took much better care of them in times of family strife.

I've read that it is the most efficient one out there. It is also the only one I give to.
