Good comment. Manny missed the oportunity to point to Christ as saviour. That, is what he did wrong.
This is the true gospel that saves.

People have been engaging in bible muddle for centuries, and this was even an American practice.

What kind of galls me is that some of the founders who called for draconian punishments on homosexual adulterers also had chattel slaves... amounting to kidnaping which was also a capital crime under Old Testament law.

The older I get, the more versed in the scriptures I get, and the more I reflect, the more I really see what a morass of hypocrisy we arose in, and that’s just plain truth... the liberals didn’t invent this, they only cruelly exploited the situation.

This also explains why Donald Trump is such a sensation. He is wrong sometimes, but he tends to be anti-lying and anti-hypocrisy. He’s a citizen upstart, you see, with his own independent ideas and not all are in lockstep with the political set and their own fantasy ideal country.

There’s only one true answer and that is a wholehearted embrace of Jesus in New Testament principles.

Only in the Old Testament is homosexuality a crime to be put to death (Leviticus).

I notice that this scripture from Revelation is thoroughly ignored

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers [Gk: pornos-paramour/male prostitute], and sorcerers, and idolaters, AND ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone which is the second death” (Rev. 21:8).

emphasis mine

Jesus Christ never addressed homosexuality. It isn’t even addressed in the Ten Commandments.
Although He said that we are subject to the governing authorities, He never said that anyone should be put to death for their sins.

To the contrary, He Said that punishment belongs ONLY to God & that all have sinned- leaving them no right to judge anyone else. He also Gave us a perfect remedy for all that offends us or that we believe is an affront to God.

We can either follow Christ or we can follow men. Often, we cannot do both.
I am not ‘’pro homosexual’’. I am leaving it alone- as the Lord Has Instructed me to do.

Eph6:12
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

We need to pray for them. Satan is the father of lies. He attempts to deceive folks. This whole PC movement of acceptance for the gay lifestyle, transgenderism, straight couples living together forgoing marriage, abortion, pornography to name a few are all designed by the father of lies.

I am a sinner in need of a Savior every day. If were not for the perfect Lamb, Jesus, we’d all be in serious ca-ca.

When I read scripture, the Holy Spirit searches my heart and reveals to me my own weaknesses. Those who stand so strongly against another, usually have something they need to deal with as well.

Well the thing we are bidden to do in Christ is to call such pitiful people back to loving the Lord. The evil loves of adultery are the way the flesh attempts to fill in for the missing love of God.

That’s why I take the stance I do on my FReeper page, even though I have gotten some flak as “pro-gay.” I don’t care about flak because neither did Christ. He just went right on saving sinners even the ones the world said shouldn’t be approached that way because they could not possibly deserve it.

For 10 people who utter the buzz words of Christianity I doubt that maybe more than 1 believe it seriously. It is just such a thought paradigm shift from the world.

The saints had some strong words to say as well:

“No sin in the world grips the soul as the accursed sodomy; this sin has always been detested by all those who live according to God...Deviant passion is close to madness; this vice disturbs the intellect, destroys elevation and generosity of soul, brings the mind down from great thoughts to the lowliest...They become blind and, when their thoughts should soar to high and great things, they are broken down and reduced to vile and useless and putrid things, which could never make them happy...Just as people participate in the glory of God in different degrees, so also in hell some suffer more than others...for this is the greatest sin.” -St. Bernardine of Siena (1380-1444)

Trump also tells his crowds that he loves/likes them and that they’re wonderful. I don’t remember the last time a candidate did that, let alone a politician.

He does know how to read people quickly.

I guess I could see how that would expand into this kind of confusion.

It just makes an ugly hash of Christianity. Ted Cruz’s father was that way; so far I have not heard anything about how Ted has or hasn’t embraced particulars, but this may explain why he has such “Christian values” emphasis with relatively little grace. I don’t expect a lot of grace out of Donald Trump, who in spite of being cultural Christian at least expresses no explicit idea of gospel. But if you are talking gospel, you have no excuse. Forgiveness yes, but no excuse.

Persons the Roman Catholic Church has canonized. But that’s a feedback and echo chamber often well insulated from Christ.

God’s Word is not heinous. It stands on its own and needs no commentary. The wages of sin is death. Does that offend you?

“Misusing it should be considered heinous by Christendom. There’s probably very few worse ways to witness.”

Proclaiming God’s standards of right and wrong is “heinous” and the worst way to witness?

My FRiend, it is a simple fact that God says homosexual sex acts are morally repugnant and worthy of the death penalty.

Why did people hate Jesus? It was because He declared to the world that it’s works were evil. That has not changed. Are you suggesting that Christ’s followers do not need to follow in His steps?

It is true that homosexuals can be forgiven and can be healed, but no one can come to Christ without repentance from sin. Salvation is not about a lifestyle improvement, or getting to know God better; it is about forgiveness from sin and being transformed by God.

Interesting observation, indicating the beginning of a positive attitude... he might have the rudiments of belief in his heart which is why he is so hard to peg.

Belief gets put to a sterner test when it begins to fight. That’s where grace is put under stress. Can you tell your enemy you still love him, and convince him you mean it?

Jesus’ declarations were always in the context of a broader embrace of love.

Without that, sir, all you are doing is trying to create your own fear-based followings.

St. Catherine saw Christ in a vision:

“Although I have quoted only male saints to this point, it’s important to note that women saints were equally condemnatory of gay sex. St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) was a mystic Doctor of the Church who was instrumental in bringing the papacy back to Rome. She also writes of the sin of homosexuality in one of her visions of Christ explaining how this transgression against the body and the intellect concludes with a loss of the soul: “[B]ut these wretches not only do not bridle this fragility, but do worse, committing that accursed sin against nature, and as blind and fools, with the light of their intellect darkened, they do not know the stench and misery in which they are. It is not only that this sin stinks before me, who am the Supreme and Eternal Truth, it does indeed displease me so much and I hold it in such abomination that for it alone I buried five cities by a divine judgment, my divine justice being no longer able to endure it.”
