You worked with a couple of rednecks, though you didn’t use the word.
Mark my words. Rednecks built America and they’ll rebuild America.

Please allow me to expand on something I posted (below) in reply to some questions that came up in an earlier comment-thread. Here is my answer to friends who wonder if theres a contradiction between my sounding an alarm during an election year regarding Donald Trumps character vs. my own frequently-expressed opinion that churches and pastors should keep partisan politics at arms length, and Christians should not be deluded into thinking that the machinery of the American Electoral College can be commandeered for the advancement of Christs kingdom.
This isnt about politics. My concerns about Donald Trump have nothing to do with his political convictions. Even if I agreed with every position he took on both foreign and domestic policy, it would still be my firm belief that he does not qualify to lead this or any other nation. Its frightening to think that such an irascible and capricious man, severely lacking in both self-control and moral boundariesa man whom we have repeatedly seen fight like a 7-year-old schoolgirlmight have the power to invoke war or take other executive actions.
Of course Trump is by no means the only Presidential candidate (including certain current office-holders) who is morally, spiritually, and ethically stunted. Hes surely the *worst,* but hes neither the first nor the only scoundrel who doesnt deserve anyones votes. American politicians for years have seemed to be trying to outdo each other to see who can be more arrogant, more narcissistic, more ostentatious, more wantonly driven by the flesh, and more cleverly deceitfulwhile being less accountable, less open to instruction or admonition, and above all, less modest. But Trump has greatly upped the ante, and he is certain to be the hands-down winner by an incredible margin in the contest to see who can be the mouthiest and most unsavory political candidate ever. I cant imagine how anyone could ever surpass him for sheer carnal chutzpah.
Im especially annoyed by the ridiculous pretense (put forward and fostered by Trump himself) that he is a faithful Christian who “reads the Bible more than anyone elseeven though he claims he can’t remember ever asking God for forgiveness or even needing to. This man is not a Christian, and as long as he insists he isand (evidently) manages to get lots of people to believe it,my conscience is continually telling me I have a duty to warn my friends and members of my flock not to be duped by this swaggering loudmouth falsely masquerading as a messiah.
Im appalled by the pathetic gullibility of hundreds of thousands who self-identify as “evangelicals” (presumably people who would say they believe the Bible is true) who nevertheless are quite willing to believe that this arrogant adulterer represents hope, or promise, or an improvement of some kind.
Americans already voted an overweening narcissist into office eight years ago. Why would anyone think an even more egomaniacal blowhard is going to make things better for our nation?
Yes, I know God is sovereign, and that the kings heart is in His hands (Proverbs 21:1), and I DO rest in the knowledge that His truth will ultimately triumph, and He will use all things for our good and His glory.
But Ive never viewed my Calvinist convictions as an excuse for indifference or inaction. I needed to say something.
Bumped to frontpage!
You put your Country before your party!
Thank you, so much. I hope others will be inspired to do the same!

I posted it with the following pictuere as the header:
Constitutionally, he can only execute 2 and 3. We have fallen far from its original state, but we’re still a representative republic.
Good post.
BTW, you do Idaho proud. Thanks!
This is so lovely Jeff. Well done!!!
Excellent Post!
There have been so many really great posts over the past couple weeks...epic posts.
We may need to compose a book of them ;)
Eh, at least a thread :)
Very well said.
I am watching the ABC news Romney speech highlights. Romney is a liar. He is trying to impact the debate—just like he tried to impact the Super Tuesday elections.
Romney is a classless establishment hack...True colors noted. Question is what will all the current Cruz supporters who were anti Romney do now that Romney has endorsed Cruz? folks who hated Romney.
Donald Trump has told us how he plans to fix this country. That in and of its self will make a huge difference in the DC establishment's hold on power. What he won't say but given the man he appears to be, I think he fully intends to clean up DC corruption and that is what the ultra elite and the corrupt politicians really fear. Trump can't currently divulge exactly all that he intends to do, thus his avoiding the term corrupt when describing those in DC. He instead stays with the words incompetent and misguided. However, once he's in the WH many of them could very likely be under indictment within months of Jan 20, 2017. Hopefully anyway.
You’re a good man, Jeff.
Trust me, if Cruz had caught fire like Trump has, he would have said the same kind of things (nuanced) against Cruz.
I voted for Mitt, but only because the other choice was beyond comprehension (the bamster). Had he had the common sense to attack the bamster, he might have won. I can truthfully say, I would have preferred that, but if I ever saw Mitt, I would want to punch his lights out and let him know just how dishonest I think he is, how bad a candidate he was, and what a horrible thing he is doing to the GOP base and his own reputation, what little there is of it.
What a seemingly small souled, petty little man he has become.
Go Trump. Go Cruz. End this nightmare of a party elite!
Thank you for this wonderful letter, Jeff...I, too, am a Cruz supporter but I agree with every word.
I will vote for Trump if he wins the nomination and talk of undermining the leading candidate at convention angers me.
Well done Jeff.
The answer is the meek minded toad who made a mockery of a presidential campaign, never even hinting at his opponents many weaknesses. Yet, he chooses to launch torpedo at the SS Donald Trump? Sickening...The GOP is doomed, thanks to men like Romney, McCain, Rubio, Boehner, Ryan, McConnell, ad nauseam.
