No, but that wasn’t their objective. The Russians’ intent was to help level the fight for their ally Assad. And with. The national Syrian army taking back chunks of territory, it appears they’ve met that objective.

The cost of which you speak does not consider the ordinary day to day expense already incurred from having a standing army. It considers the cost of stockpiled munitions that are available in a severely bloated weapons inventory that is in effect already paid for. It does not consider the pressing need to provide the jobs that will be required to begin to replace the expended munitions
