Why so many voters are drawn to Donald Trump

The way the presidential campaign is shaping up, Ventura musician Jon Gindick may do something he's never done before. "I've never voted for a Republican," the registered Democrat told me. "I like Trump." A waiter told me he thought Trump's trade restrictions would create more jobs at higher wages. A couple wearing matching red, white and blue shirts told me their healthcare costs had tripled under Obamacare -- a program Trump says he'll shred. To Gindick, Trump's remarks about criminals coming across the border were refreshingly honest, and not at all a condemnation of all immigrants or Latinos in general. He thinks Trump's critics misrepresent him, that they're unfair in calling him a racist. "I saw it as a huge lie being repeated by the GOP establishment and Democrats," he said. From Freeper Beautiful_Gracious_Skies:

“The race is such a lopsided win for Trump that it’s ludicrous to suggest otherwise.

Team Cruz is efficient in inching out teeny weenie victories in a few caucus states known for their odd and malleable vote counting methods.
Cruz won:
Virgin Islands by 30 votes
Wyoming by 480 votes
Alaska by 600 votes
Maine by 2,500.

Here are the rounded total votes Cruz won in his nine winning states.

How about we try to discuss amd convince rather than denigrate?

So here’s the deal, the GOPe is intent on undermining your candidate - regardless of who it is. Don’t be complicit. Don’t help them disassemble whichever candidate is not your first choice. They have enough gun power of their own, we don’t need to help them kneecap one of their mortal enemies. Pat Bucannon

You are evil.

You are California.

The only good thing about California is FR.

California should slide into the sea, leaving only the new Island, Fresno.

Cruz can prevail by having 1237 delegates support him.

“Cruz can prevail by having 1237 delegates support him.”

The only way that will happen, is if Trump leaves the race tomorrow. Cruz can’t win the nomination fair and square in any other way.

Now maybe he can prevail in a contested convention, but even that’s a long shot, given how poorly he’s performed in the race thus far.

It’s apparent that you’re a staunch Cruz supporter, but you really should study the nuts and bolts of what’s happening in this race. The data is voluminous, and it’s all right here for the taking. Read it and understand why most people are of the opinion that Cruz has no chance. The hard cold data shows it.

If it goes to a contested convention, Cruz wins. It is the Cruz campaign that is way ahead of getting its delegates chosen to go to Cleveland.

Very very few delegates are going in undecided. I will bet Cruz will have about 1400 delegates in Cleveland that would vote for him on the first ballot if they could. That’s why In my opinion, as a Cruz supporter, it is key in keeping Trump below 1237.

One example. In SC Trump won all 50 delegates. They have to vote for him on the first ballot. Where are these delegates coming from? They had to attend the last SC state convention. How many Trump supporters were at that convention? I am guessing 0. Trump had not even thought of running then. Nikki Haley endorsed Cruz recently. Who do you think they would vote for on the second ballot. Not Trump.

Trump has pissed off so many Republicans that it will be hard for him to garner any more delegates if he falls short.

Cruzmentum

Cruzmentum = when Ted Cruz still trails in the polls, just by less than usual!

If Cruz is the candidate, he’s toast in the general election.

He’s already shown that he’s unwilling to fight Hillary, and his tactics have alienated at least half of the R base. Even if he gets ABH votes out of them, he won’t be getting volunteers or any enthusiasm, which was Romney’s death knell four years ago.

And even if he does make it into office, he’s controlled by the GOPe, so nothing is going to change.

Are you hearing yourself?

You’re suggesting that it’s perfectly acceptable for a bunch of hand selected party insiders to override the will of the people, and choose someone as nominee who could not garner sufficient votes in the primary to win it fair and square himself.

That’s a despicable, un-American, and communistic idea, and you should be ashamed for even agreeing with it.

Any nominee who’s chosen in the manner you speak of, will be seen by the vast majority of Americans on both sides of the aisle, as illegitimate from the word go.

It will also be the death of the Republican party if they dare to even try it.

So what is the party to do? Go on the street and look for people that want to be Trump delegates? These rules have been in place for decades.

Here is the thing, if there were not a billion candidates Trump would not be the leading vote getters.

How many states has Trump won with more than 50% of the vote? 0

What is Trump's vote percentage? 37%
That mean 63% don't want Trump.

53% of Republican women have a negative view of him.

This is a candidate with very limited appeal, that has a plurality of the delegates not the majority.

If Trump had not pissed off EVERY candidate and candidates supporters, he might be able to form an alliance. As it is, too many people hate the way he has campaigned.

Trump needs to drop out to save face.

More voters want Trump, than want Cruz. That is an unassailable fact.
