I’m not sure that the GOP platform on abortion serves any actual purpose other than to fool pro life people into voting GOP.

Got it. Life has less meaning depending on who your parents are.

Although I am not in favor of the exceptions for rape and incest (why would you kill the child for the crimes of the father?) and the exception to save the life of the mother is common sense, if we could get a law that limited abortion to those three exceptions, I would support it. Why? Because it would eliminate 99%+ of all abortions.

My problem with Trump's position on this is based on his own philosophy of The Art of the Deal. Trump holds the position that you always ask for a lot more at the beginning than you expect to get. So if he is willing to have this as his STARTING position on abortion, what does that say about what he is willing to accept in the end? Keep abortion legal in all cases through the first trimester? Allow sex-selection abortions? What would be his final position?

Mark Charles Lee USAF Colonel, a former NASA astronaut who flew on four Space Shuttle missions, is the product of his grandmother being raped. Glad he wasn’t terminated.

The states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for abortions. But it seems that conservatives want the feds to use constitutionally nonexistent federal government powers to force their pro-life agenda down everybody’s throats just like the godless Democrats (thanks Ann Coulter) do with pro-abortion politics.

Just so folks know, Trump is suggesting the overturn of the 1984 Reagan pro-life plank, which recognizes the Fourteenth Amendment personhood of EVERY child.

The powers-that-be in the GOP have watered down that plank with stupid, immoral, unconstitutional regulatory provisions that are counter to the above, but this move by Trump destroys the Reagan plank once and for all.

More brilliance and pragmatism, I’m sure.

At this rate, he’ll be all for an “assault weapons ban” by Saturday.

Oh, wait...

"The Republican platform every four years has a provision that states that the right of the unborn child should not be infringed," Guthrie said. "And it makes no exceptions for rape, for incest, for the life of the mother. Would you want to change the Republican platform to include the (abortion) exceptions that you have?"

"Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Absolutely," Trump said. "For the three exceptions, I would."

You're either pro abortion or pro life. "Pro Choice" is a bullshit, cop-out propaganda phrase. Exceptions for 'rape and incest' are just euphemisms for Pro Abortion.

Donald Trump is Pro Abortion.

At what point to Trump fan boys start admitting this was a massive, unbridled and fatal error to catapult this idiot this far?

boy, what a bunch of f...ts Trump supporters are being today.

We knew this was his stand on abortion already.

He is right that it would destroy businesses to build a third bathroom. That's absurd.

I do disagree with him on them being able to choose their own bathrooms.

How often is this gonna happen? Don't we hate it when the left uses 10 mass shootings a year to try and destroy our party.

And what's the alternative? Cruz? Who couldn't win the South OR the North.

How exactly is he getting to 270?

If he gets rid of illegals and balances the budget OR gets the economy growing at 5 percent or more again, he will do more than the candidates many of the PROFESSIONAL GENTLEMAN LOSERS on this board would choose.

Then when they lose, they can sing that hit song “alone in my principles.

Get the @#$@# out of here.

Trump!!!

I've been giving this link of Trumps past positions in his own words.

Abortion:

Pro-Choice, Very Pro-Choice, would not ban partial-birth-abortions.

Seems our choices may come down to:

Very Liberal Longtime Democrat -vs- Very Liberal New Republican

Two points to make here.

1) I do not agree with him on this position.
2) I have voted for probably a hundred Republicans who held the identical position since gaining the age of majority.

And I’m sure just about all of you have too.

The alternative is a Democrat who has no qualms about chopping them up in the womb during month #9.

Only a small percent of the population is against early abortion in case of rape or incest...a very small percentage.

If you go back and back and research their platform, they are simply silent on any exceptions....and they say so directly.

"...exceptions for rape, for incest, for the life of the mother..."

Rape: Ethyl Water's white mother was raped by a black man when she was a teenager. Ethyl, who became a world renowned Gospel singer, was the baby that was not killed just because her mother was raped.

The reason "for the life of the mother" exception would kill many innocent children.

Beethoven was almost aborted, it was recommended to his mother that she should do so.

Here is a List of some other people whose names will be recognized that almost were killed. Tim Tebow, Celine Dion and Nick Cannon are examples.

Pregnant women who wish to kill their babies could get a waiver because they were severely depressed and claim they would kill themselves if they were forced to keep her baby.
Surely there would be many other ways to use this exception.

Even for incest there is no reason to kill the innocent victim.

Look at the British Monarchy, they have survived generations of incest or so it has been reported.

Trump needs to be educated on things of this manner. I know of at least one strong Christian on his staff.

We have far more important things to worry about than abortion or bathrooms. None of that is even going to matter unless we control the massive 3rd World invasion.
