Fortunately, the primates were away.

What you said. Makes me think the recent steps to raise the White House fence is to protect citizens from the primates.

Growing up on a ranch, we pretty much did as we pleased as kids, and going to a crowded venue-a zoo, big store, etc-felt claustrophobic-my mom and aunts were well aware that all of us would escape and take off, with bad results-there were catalogs of kid supplies that offered little soft harnesses with leashes to keep kids from getting lost or harmed in crowds-or running amok and breaking stuff in fancy stores, getting mommy sued.

My sibling and I, as well as our cousins all wore them when we were in a crowd of strangers-our moms were not taking any chance that we would be harmed or cause havoc...

By the time I had my own cub, those kid harnesses were out of favor, so I had to keep a grip on her hand at all times in a crowd-she did not understand why she could not run all over like she did at home-there would have been no way at all I’d have let go of her for even 10 seconds...

I think public venues with dangerous animals or objects on exhibit should have a supply of those kid harnesses and leashes, and require that any child under a certain age wear one-with a parent holding the other end of the leash- while on the premises-incidents like the one at the zoo would be a lot less likely to happen...

I would be interested in the caliber of weapon used. And shot placement. You know, just in case.

I wonder if a few firecrackers would have scared the gorilla away from the kid. It would have been worth trying before having to kill the animal.

“I’ve been hearing that the law suits are about to fly. I say, where in the hell was this child’s parents?”

I’m wondering about this too. I’ve been at that zoo and exhibit, and no reasonably person would consider that exhibit dangerous. However, I suppose, if a determined person worked at it they could find a way into the exhibit. You might say, “well, what about small children”. I was not aware that they would be going to the zoo all by themselves at such a young age. Seems irresponsible.

I’m sorry, but society has NO responsibility to completely childproof the world for harried parents. Keep your eyes on them. If there are “too many to watch all the time”, get help or don’t go and next life, have fewer.

Now there is one less gorilla - but the number of idiots keeps going up. And there are lots of “armchair quarterbacks” who are second-guessing the shooting. What were they supposed to do. Tranks take time to work. If that gorilla would have even fallen on that kid that would have been it. And I’m sure the poor bastard who shot it will be second-guessing the whole thing themselves the rest of their lives.

Hmmm...the present fencing is definitely not working.

The rifle lugged around by Chris Pratt in the latest Jurassic Park movie would not have been a bad choice. Looked to be a lever action in .45-70.

Also, 9.3x63 mm Mauser would have been good too, if you have a Euro bent.

I wonder why only the mother is blamed? Because the child is black are people assuming there is no father around?

“childproof the world for harried parents.”

Totally agree-my kid-my responsibility-and my liability if the kid runs loose and there is damage or a mishap. I really do think those kid harnesses from my childhood should be brought back-make parents responsible for their kids again...

It took most of that time for the Hazardous Animal Response Team to reach the scene.

One article I read said the child had serious injuries and not from the fall.

“Because the child is black are people assuming there is no father around?.....Well....Yeah.”

Unfortunately, given the stats...

http://www.fathers.com/statistics-and-research/the-extent-of-fatherlessness/

...this would be a reasonable assumption.

I’m guessing that a lot of people on this forum are white. I just wonder what black people my age think about the present state of affairs. I know a fairly good number, but I’d be afraid to ask and they would probably be afraid to tell me.

I agree. I’ve been on Twitter, and numerous people have posted things like that the child should have been allowed to die to “cleanse the human gene pool,” and that the incident should have been a tragedy that day for the parents, not the gorilla.

These people are embracing a Satanic deception, being led by their feelings over truth, because it is often easier to like and love animals over people, and they’ve been told that they decide what’s true and have allowed their feelings to come before the truth of people being made in God’s image. These people don’t seem to respect God, though, but believe they themselves are gods, while worshiping nature and their own judgment.

You also have to wonder how many of them have ever had careless moments and close calls. How many have texted or talked on their cell phones while driving, for example?

The internet combined with secular humanists have created a bloodthirsty population of people who think they’re all good, and there are “reasons” for every wrong thing they do, and can’t see why their own actions might be causing harm but can argue why they shouldn’t be punished. It’s just other people who need to have the book thrown at them.

The UK Mirror, I believe, carried a story about a woman with the mother’s name, who lives 200 miles from Cincinnati and has never been to its zoo. Predictably, she’s been on the receiving end of threats since this happened.

Some of these European types can be total idiots. I made a comment on Twitter the other day about Hiroshima. Some buffoon from Ireland has been lecturing us about how Truman was a terrorist. I reminded him that he wasn’t allowed an opinion because his country remained neutral in WWII. He knows more than us Americans, many of whom lost relatives and virtually all who know men who fought the battles.
