Just like the attempted coup in Venezuela against Chavez, right?

As in my post # 20 he been replacing unreliable members with his backers in the military, courts and higher education since he came to power.

A list of nearly 3,000 judges within 24 hours of the coup attempt? He’s had that list in his pocket for a while just waiting. Plus he’s cleared out the last of the opposition from the high court.

The immediate move on the judiciary shows he was ready to roll with any pretext. This coup attempt was just what he needed. It will also serve as cover for even more brutality against the Kurds. He was coming under external pressure to let the UN and other investigators into SE Turkey where he has been committing massive human rights violations and mass murder. Now he will be free to slaughter at will.

Just like Obama, Erdogan is popular in the big cities. He doesn’t do fly-over country...rural. His purge will only foster more hate and distrust. Very democratic of him.

Instant purge of the judiciary!!

That bastard Erdogan is not even pretending to legitimacy, he has a list of 2745 judges to be purged at the first opportunity and he does it with the pretext of this coup attempt.

Why didn’t someone just empty a 30-round magazine into Erdogan’s face?

Who would enlist today after that?

Anyone who enlists today would not be out of training until at least after the election. It would be enlisting on the come, in the belief that one would be serving under President Trump.

I want Trump to beat Hillary, but I’m not placing any bets; 2012 was a real eye-opener in terms of demographics in this country. After four years of economic malaise/Obamunism, more people voted for him than an imperfect but successful Romney.

That fact that Hillary is polling over 20% speaks volumes; thirty years ago this wouldn’t even be a race. She knows she’s starting with 47% of the vote (at least), regardless of what polls indicate...

Yep. Xerxes bleeds. And a vital part of the real axis of evil just showed cracks.

“The basic mistake: not killing Erdogan first, so the snake would have been headless.”

Absolutely correct. The basics never change.

Nevertheless, a very bad week all in all for the transnational, NWO scum.

I think Klein is way off base with this analysis. Erdogan will use the failed coup to purge the military and any political opposition. Many will be killed and disappeared and Erdogan will rush to make Turkey a theocratic Islamist state and eliminate remaining Western influences.

Agree 100%. This will embolden him and increase his stature among the muzzies. He will now continue his quest for the caliphate bs.

I don’t see how Erdogan is weakened, since he will now have an excuse to purge the military of dissident elements. The military must have known about something awful to make them think a coup attempt was warranted. Is Erdogan going to go full Islamic now? Is he going to try to establish a new caliphate to supplant ISIS? He will have an easier task now.

If the US-Europe NATO alliance was genuine, they would have tossed Turkey out a decade ago BUT...because the US and the West have lost so many strategic allies and points n the globe since Obama came to power, there is a consensus in the West that despite all his betrayals, we NEED Turkey in NATO, no matter what they do.

John Effing Kerry’s handiwork, you suppose?

After all, he does need something to buttress his resume, after all, his predecessor was responsible for how many countries being thrown into crisis?

Gotta have some resume enhancements, dontcha know?

...All in all, this is a geostrategic disaster of unprecedented dimension.....

How do the Gulenists fit into this ?Gulen controls from an armed compound in Pennsylvanias Pocono mountains. He has 130+ Charter Schools in the US that are staffed by young Turk males . Millions of US tax dollars flow out to support Gulenists in Turkey.

But but but . . . . it’s a democracy. Elected by the people.

That’s what I kept hearing over and over and over by our beloved media.
