Here's how it must go down:

Threaten to nuke unless Dems co-operate. They may, given their dire senate roster up for re-elect in 2018.

If they don't play ball, nuke to undo the damage done by Obama when Dems nuked the filibuster. (Obiecare and judges)

When all is fixed, the last order of business changes Senate rules so that 60 votes are needed to change Senate fules. (NOT 51)

This back and forth gotcha' must be stopped for the good of the country, just as the actions of Reid's senate must be undone. If Republicans throw up another excuse why they can't get critical legislation passed, then it won't be just Dems in trouble in '18. My Sen Flake (AZ) is one.

These geldings/eunuchs/capons may yet again prove to be worthless poltroons. They probably want to “share power” like they did during bush’s time. Fools...weaklings...quislings.

They shouldn’t kill it, it WILL bite them later. Things are cyclical, they will be the minority party again, making it so the minority party has no voice will hurt them then.

That ‘ASKING” the Senate ship has sailed.

McConnell does anything other than GO NUCLEAR ON ALL LEGISLATION AND APPOINTMENTS, we go to his house with 5,000 patriots with torches and FORCE HIM to.

WE DIDNT GO THROUGH THIS ELECTION ONLY TO HAVE SOME SENILE SCUMBAG FROM KENTUCKY THROW A MONKEY WRENCH INTO THE WAR TO MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.

HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dems must defend:

Florida, Indiana, Maine, Mich, Missouri, Montana, NJ, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Republicans defend only AZ and Nevada, neither of which has an incumbent guaranteed of winning, although AZ would likely remain R if not Flake.

Manchin in WV may switch to R by 2018, Kaine in VA would likely win, as might Menendez in NJ, but the others are iffy. Stabelow in Mich, McCaskil in Mizzou, Heitkemp in ND, Tester Montana, Nelson in Florida and Indiana....all are right around 50%, except Kaine and Menendez who are higher.

“Senate Republicans are wary of making a historic move to nix the filibuster despite growing pressure from conservatives. “

This will be a rerun of Trent Lott’s Senate.

The Senate will be the sole roadblock to Trump’s agenda. Look for the Senate RINOs to caucus with Democrats on many occasions.

Reid nuked the filibuster for appointments only. I thought that was still in place. I think the filibuster is still in place for other votes, however.

Trump must figure out how to make them pay a big price for the cowardice of the Senate and the House!
This is obvious: half (25 of 48) of all non-Republican senators will have their terms expire in 2017. Ten of whom hale from states Trump won.

                 Democratic

California - Dianne Feinstein (D)
Connecticut - Joe Lieberman (I)
Delaware - Tom Carper (D)
Hawaii - Mazie Hirono (D)
Maine - Angus King (I)
Maryland - Ben Cardin (D)
Massachusetts - Elizabeth Warren (D)
Minnesota - Amy Klobuchar (D)
New Jersey - Bob Mendez (D)
New Mexico - Martin Heinrich (D)
New York - Kirsten Gillibrand (D)
Rhode Island - Sheldon Whitehouse (D)
Vermont - Bernie Sanders(I)
Virginia - Tim Kaine (D)
Washington - Maria Cantwell

States won by Trump

Florida - Bill Nelson (D)
Michigan - Debbie Stabenow (D)
Missouri - Claire McCaskill (D)
Montana - Jon Tester (D)
North Dakota - Heidi Heitkamp (D)
Ohio - Sherrod Brown (D)
Pennsylvania - Bob Casey, Jr. (D)
West Virginia - Joe Manchin (D) (?)
Wisconsin - Tammy Baldwin (D)
Wyoming - John Barasso (D)

Republican

Arizona - Flake (R)
Indiana - Joe Donnelly (R)
Mississippi - Roger Wiker (R)
Nebraska - Deb Fischer (R)
Nevada - Dean Heller (R)
Tennessee - Bob Corker (R)
Texas - Ted Cruz (R)
Utah - Orrin Hatch

The obvious issue is, who will be recruited to run for Senate in ’18?

Especially in the blue states, of course.

They need to take a look at what the dems have wrought......lies, confabulations, they put these snowflake idiots in the street to delegitimize Trump and the irredeemable deplorables, told the world conservatives are racist, and.....on....and on.....and on.

Limbaugh is correct......you do not make nice and reason with a democrat....you defeat them. They are like ISIS...they must be defeated.

Orin Hatch, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, McCain, Flake, Alexander, Corker and the rest of these weasels all smell the scent of Pizza wafting through the air.

Of course....each session of the Senate makes their own rules, but it would appear R's will have control for at least 4 more years. Probably much longer, considering Dems are wandering in the desert with no bench or a new messiah on the horizon.

Hopefully one round of 'an eye for eye' will make it quite clear what dangers can result.

Harry Reid effectively nuked the filibuster and when McConnel had the chance to keep Reid’s new rules he wimped out.

Not so.

Reid killed the filibuster on executive branch administrative and judicial nominations (except SCOTUS).

Those rules are still in place and will make things significantly easier for the Trump administration.

“a rules change they believe could come back to bite them, when they are inevitably back in the minority.”

If they make changes for the better, it is not inevitable that they will be back in the minority.

Besides, it was the Democrats who went nuclear, and will again if Republicans act like gentlemen. Democrats are very comfortable with self-serving double-standards. Hypocrites.

The best way to sensitize a bully (Democrats) is to give them a bloody nose. Run roughshod over them with the nuclear option again, and again, and again. They will plead for a Constitutional amendment to end the practice. That is will be the time to cooperated. Then, if they capture a majority, Republicans will be protected.
