Close down the EPA and fire them all!
No demand for electric hybrids? Coal/nuclear/natural gas cars don’t sell? Even with $7,000 government handouts?
Unexpected.
I don’t think they would have to ask.
I had a 64 chev 4 door with a peanut 6 in it. I got 24 MPG with it.
That was before my hotrod days. The 65 dodge two door got 6 MPG..of course it had a 440 mag, with a cam and with a 6 pack on top and 4 speed.
The artificial increase in fuel cost was supposed to force a demand for hybrids and electric vehicles.
Instead, once fuel prices edged close to five a gallon, people demanded oil exploration and the heads of the politicians pushing for inflated fuel costs.
Get rid of the EPA.
The short story is that the company is obligated to sell a certain number of fuel-efficient cars in order to meet these stupid EPA mandates based on average miles per gallon across all of the vehicles they sell. The problem is that if the build the small cars here in the U.S., they are so expensive that their customers end up opting for a larger mid-sized model. Ford can probably sell plenty of $15,000-$18,000 Focus models, but if domestic production pushes the price up over $20,000 then a lot of their customers figure out that they might as well pay a few thousand dollars more for a mid-sized Fusion ... in which case Ford doesn't meet its EPA fuel efficiency standards because they aren't selling enough small cars.
All liberals who don’t want one should be encouraged to buy one, or be constantly berated for their hypocrisy in not doing so.
CAFE standards should not exist in a free country.
They don't need a reason. Fuel economy regulations are an outrage and an abominable imposition on the prerogatives of the people.
And while we are on the subject of cars, let’s get rid of gasohol. I want pure unadulterated gasoline again. The alcohol ruins carburetors in many types of gasoline engine.
Depends on who you are. If you're a Dem it's more like:
'Hell is on it's way, and Donald too'.
