When Ted Cruz is no longer in office, I’ll move on.

Move on is exactly what Cruz expected folks to urge when he betrayed us last year.

Not having it.

“...Now you call it a brilliant strategy (my extrapolation), to back a guy who betrayed us....”*
***********************************************************************
I have no idea what you mean by “my extrapolation”. Perhaps you mean change the meaning of what was said by another FReeper and thus create a form of “fake news”. Please don’t be that dishonest (it’s too trollish & too ‘RAT-like).

The “brilliant strategy” (I was being sarcastic, it is clearly NOT brilliant but is instead incredibly stupid) was YOUR approach of relentlessly attacking those in Congress (such as Ted Cruz) who are supporting Trump’s legislative goals & holding the Congressional Republican leadership accountable. It’s stupid & counterproductive to aim our fire at our allies. It’s unfortunate that you are being too obtuse to get that.

There’s one thing you folks can’t grasp, or simply refuse to.

If Ted is such a solid guy, we should have all done what he did last year.

All of Conservatism should have refused to back Trump at the Convention in mid-July. Then they should have sat on their hands until September 23rd. At that time they should have made a statement and put up a post on Facebook. Then they would have sat on their hands again until November 5th.

On November 5th, they would have refused to even mention the name Trump for 1/3rd of their efforts.

And that’s it.

Today we’d have Hillary Clinton for a president and there would be absolutely nobody to blame.

As for my extrapolation, it made sense. If you wish to act like it didn’t and insult me based on your refusal to grasp what I was saying, I don’t mind.

You guys obviously care more about Ted Cruz than the nation.

That’s your problem, not mine.

I'm kind of disappointed that Cruz would advocate the expansion of the insurance market across state lines. There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that allows the Federal government to enforce such a thing, and there is U.S. Supreme Court case law that clearly reinforces insurance as a state-regulated industry.

In essence, an insurance plan is a contract, not a product or service ... so Federal oversight under the interstate commerce clause does not apply.

I remember, when I was young, hearing my grandfather (who lived through the Depression) saying “They can’t stand prosperity.” when seeing folks come into some money & STUPIDLY promptly pissing it away and becoming poor again.

For the moment we have a situation (Republicans in charge of the House, the Senate & the Presidency) where we COULD accomplish great things. Some amongst us “can’t stand prosperity” and are in the process, IMHO, of possibly “pissing the opportunity away.” There are folks such as Cruz who actually want these monumental conservative ideas to be actually accomplished. And there are others, such as Ryan, McConnell & other RINOs, who I fear are interested (if we let them get away with it) merely in sabotaging those conservative attempts.

It’s important for us to aim our fire at those who will gleefully let things slip away rather than those who want to actually accomplish those goals. IMHO, you are falling into the “can’t stand prosperity crowd”. Let’s not piss it all away by intramural sniping.

I had heard Rick Perry but he took the Energy post in the Trump administration. There is no conservatives in Texas that can challenge Cruz, this is someone that might run

Matthew Dowd, a former strategist to President George W. Bush, is considering mounting an independent run against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), according to the The Texas Tribune.

“ACA isn’t being ended, it’s being expanded”

Can you provide specifics on this please?

This is what you got from my post where I pointed out to you what would have happened if we all did what Ted did last year. If what he did was a solid, it would have helped our cause. We could praise that. If what he did would have cost us the election if everyone did it, then he’s a political pariah now exploiting folks for his own gain.

Ted did not get us here. He has no authority to stand in public and make pronouncements about policy.

Ted did his damnedest to make sure he didn’t help at all.

None the less, you lecture me and give Ted gracious salutations and a pass.

What would your dad say about that? I’m sure glad you support guys who couldn’t see anything dangerous about Hillary Clinton being elected, so much so that he did nothing to prevent it?

What has the media to do with this discussion?

We’re not talking about things that were skewed by the media.

Trump is in there now doing a great job. Many of us thought he would after looking at his platform.

The media got him elected?

Wow...

Thanks. No one running as an independent would have a chance and I’m not
sure Perry could have been much of a challege even with all his history in Texas.
