In India they do. Use intense pressure. And lies, and all sort of dirty tactics. Often communists call themselves “Christian” for political purposes.

I remember a few years ago right here on FR one member who had donated to a Christian church in India who had suffered all kinds of violence etc went and visited.

Turns out there was never a church, it was all a total scam.

So, you bring up one case of a scammer and seek to equate it to an entire nation demonizing Christianity?

I’m sorry that your friend got scammed, but that is certainly the exception and not the standard. As TBP has noted, there is certainly a level of attacks by Hindu’s on Christians and Muslims.

The ministry I referred to is Compassion International, the American ministry with the largest presence in India. over 150,000 children are going to be without the help CI has been giving them. Is Modi going to fill that gap? Doubtful, because I’m sure these children are in the wrong caste.

I’ve known about this issue for a while but haven’t really been tracking it. I have several friends who are Indian. One just returned from a vacation there last week.

I know a young lady who lives in the US. Her brother pastors a small church in India and is being prevented from using their building by the government. I don’t know all the details.

Here’s an article on Compassion’s issue.

Christians have lived in peace in India for almost 2000 years. Christian fanatics painting India or all Hindus as enemies of Christians is fake, lying, nasty and just not true.

Attacks by Hindus on Moslems?

Apparently you are damnably ignorant.

You need to read this book, but of course you won’t:

So, when I was in college, I remember learning about primary, secondary and tertiary research.

Primary is best, like an autobiography. Secondary is almost as good, research by someone of the primary research. Tertiary research is not as good and can be suspect.

I’ve spoken directly to people with secondary knowledge who have spoken with primary people who are coming under direct persecution.

I trust them because these are folks I’ve know for years and trust them more than some guy with an anonymous name on a website. Just like I guess you don’t trust me.

People can be very highly educated and ignorant as a stone.

People biased against Hinduism, or any other topic or issue, will see what they want to see.

The only way to know truth is to want truth more than anything else.

You want to see Hinduism as evil, so you will continue to see through that filter.

So be it.

Except it’s not just one case; it’s too many cases to enumerate: raping nuns and dragging them through the streets, burning churches, killing tens of thousands of Christians extrajudicially, and so much more.

Modi’s unwillingness to help the Compassion International kids isn’t because of their caste — that’s a Hindu thing. (As I noted, many Dalits are changing religions to escape the caste system — and the BJP and its RSS allies want it stopped.) The reason they’re not getting helped is because they’re Christians — and the BJP says that everyone in India must either be a Hindu or be subservient to Hindus.

It is not safe to be a religious minority in India.

An open letter to Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc., from David Curry, president and CEO of Open Doors USA.

February 28, 2017

Tim Cook, CEO
Apple
1 Infinite Loop
Cupertino, CA 95014

Dear Mr. Cook:

Apple Inc. is one of the most respected companies in the world. Your organization’s commitment to excellence is inspiring and commendable. Your products are an integral part of the everyday lives of millions of people. Apple’s unique approach to personal electronics continues to revolutionize daily life here in America and around the globe. And yet, I urge you to more fully realize that you have an incredible opportunity for influence. Your company represents the best of American values and ideals, and I encourage you to stand for these values—including the protection of basic human rights—in all international business negotiations.

I am writing to you regarding your efforts to expand operations in India. I know you are aware of the human rights issues so prevalent there, but did you know that India ranks No. 15 on the 2017 Open Doors World Watch List? The list is a global indicator of countries where human rights are violated, where religious freedom is threatened, and where societies are most vulnerable to unrest and destabilization. In the last year, increased mob violence against Christians and other religious minorities has gone unchecked by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his administration. Muslims, Christians and other religious minorities continue to suffer terribly as radical Hindu nationalists target them.

There are currently 63 million Christians living in India, all facing some form of persecution for their faith. For example, Samari Kasabi, a mother in the village of Dokawaya was dragged from her home by a mob of Hindu extremists, stripped naked, beaten, killed and then her body was publicly set on fire because of her faith. Others like Sukhdev Negi, a village chief in Gudsakal, have been attacked by Naxalite guerrillas, beaten and murdered in front of family members. These are just two tragic stories that represent a myriad of human rights abuses in India.

Mr. Cook, you and your company have a unique opportunity to be a strong voice for human rights by insisting India’s government protect and preserve religious freedom in India, specifically addressing the plight of Muslims, Christians and other religious minorities who often face severe persecution for their faith. In addition to the requested tax and sourcing concessions, I urge you to publicly call upon the government of India to affirm the fundamental right to choose one’s own faith or no faith at all.

As you finalize negotiations and, ultimately, begin hiring employees in India, please recognize that many who join your ranks will come from a background of persecution. Inclusion and diversity are integral to the way Apple operates. Will you advocate for your future Indian employees?

Please know that you are venturing into a country where Hindu extremists are vowing to erase the Christian faith by 2021. I have enclosed a photograph recently taken at an Indian train station by one of our staff.

These troubling signs are a common sight throughout India. I urge you to give careful thought to the ways in which Apple can be a force for good.

Sincerely,

David Curry
