It’s communism, not socialism, and the left loves it because it takes money from those who produce it and gives it to those who lob around all day, and to the ruling elite which lives in luxury.

The largest oil reserves in the world, and they can’t get tankers out because their fill-pipes are leaking, contaminating the water and the ships, requiring crews to scrub each ship down below and above the waterline before it can be allowed in international waters, because they can’t get it together to fix the pipe leaks.

I know a guy that goes down to Haiti, they put in rain gutters for the roofs and then into a drum and filter so the people can have fresh water. They hire locals to help them.
He said the group tried to train the locals to do it all themselves - it’s pretty simple stuff. But he said the worker’s would get the pvc pipe and other materials in from the organization, and then turn around and sell them for quick cash.
I’m guessing if your family is starving your mind figures it is better to get an easy and quick $20 than to get paid $40 later on. I’m guessing the same is true for pipe repairs in Venezuela at the moment.
