Where is the news ...
The odds that the universe just happened is zero as well. They actually had to create the theory of the multi-verse in order to make it possible.
If we mean Abiogenesis, then I think its clear the weight of evidence is against it being feasible (Abiogenesis means life first coming from the inorganic assuming the natural universe did not have outside help in producing life).
If we mean Common Origin of species in some first species where Abiogenesis already happened as a given, then maybe it is feasible, I am not sure.
Natural selection can't start helping overcome the odds until you have something that can take advantage of natural selection.
If I have a jar of sterilized peanut butter that is sealed against some life getting in it from the outside. I indeed have lots of amino acid and very organic stuff in there. Certainly if abiogenesis were feasible without amino acid and these complex structures given to us for free, then one would expect that life would spring up very quickly from the sterilized peanut butter jar. But that is not what we find. Abiogenesis is only considered feasible by those that need it to be feasible to support their world view. The Emprical evidence is very much against it.
It is correct that life didn’t just spring from nothing. The flaw in the Town Hall argument though, is that its reasoning is confused.
Evolutionary theory has never stated that life springs from nothing. The idea of Spontaneous Generation began with the ancient Greeks, and was later adapted by Christianity.
Jerry Newcombes not only unaware of the history of the subject he writes about, hes also unaware of the fundamental tenet of science, which is empiricism. You can propose any idea you want, but unless you can back it up with data and facts, and then have that data replicated by other scientists in the field, it is absolutely meaningless. Just like in a court of law, hearsay evidence is not allowed.
Evolution is supported by radiometric dating and the science of stratigraphy. In order for evolution to be discredited, these scientific principles would have to be proven wrong. It only takes one instance, but so far that hasnt happened.
Newcombes also overlooked the fact, that since God created everything in the universe, He also created the laws of physics, which include radiometric dating and stratigraphy. So to deny evolution is to deny the existence of God.
Like 1/2xINF-1 impossible.
I have a problem with evolution and I like the clockmaker theory.
Mainly because they’ve found no traces of ancient civilizations pre 12000 bc. Mankind didn’t just spontaneously evolve at around 10000 bc. Mankind was genetically created
The calculation of odds assumes the creation of life in its present form. The first life would have been very much simpler. Further, Prior to life, biochemistry produces complex products, and the products themselves interact in complex ways. For example, complex organic molecules are observed to form in the conditions that exist in space, and it is possible that they played a role in the formation of the first life.
Airplanes did not start out with the assembly of a modern Boeing 777.
I always ask these two questions when confronting those who don’t believe in a Creator.
What was the first thing?
How did it (somthing) come from nothing?
It is impossible for anything to come from nothing. The first bit of energy or matter had to be created by a eternal and intelligent Creator. To think otherwise is anti-science.
Amen. Excellent article.

While I won't disagree with that, I have a major problem with any explanation as to where God came from...........
Like they say, you can't create something from nothing and I hold the same belief when it comes to God............
It’s been my experience that the people who believe in the accidental creation of life are not mathematicians and certainly not Program Managers.

Everything around right now, the computer, desk, chair....they are made of atoms of different types. These atoms are infinitely small as I learned in engineering school, however the atoms themselves are largely empty space. Everything around you is made of teeny tiny things that themselves are almost entirely empty of matter. These colliders, CERN and such are finding yet tiny-et particles make up the empty space which is what little exists in the largely empty atoms. Crazy right and there is no reason to expect this all won’t get ever more confounding.
There was once a people that built a high tower to challenge the preeminence of God, God responded by confusing their language.
=> Science on the sub-atomic level or greater universe level is something we will never fully understand, because the solutions become ever more inexplicable -like a confused language.
That’s my theory of the universe from first principles.
As such: evolution; primarily, natural selection over time, is premised upon a delusional concept of linear time coupled with cause always preceding effect.
Given faith in an all powerful God; why not an all powerful God that created Mankind, all that we perceive preceded Mankind, and all that we perceive will follow Mankind ALL at the same time, ALL according to plan, with much we will never understand let alone possess the ability to comprehend?
When you get the math wrong; everything else you say will be suspect as well.
From a purely mathematical standpoint, the bewildering complexity of even the most basic organic molecules [which are much more complicated than a nine-letter word] completely rules out the possibility of life originating by mere chance.
The True E believers will counter this with, "...given enough time..."
Bottom line: If you are going to 'CLAIM' zero odds; then you'd best SHOW zero odds!
What does religion have to do with odds?

Why, I was just strolling through a junk yard the other day when a wind kicked up and assembled a Boing 787 out of the trash, that was then brought aloft by that same breeze!

Romans 1 New Living Translation (NLT)20 , x For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
