So is that a 1 star Air Force general that moved in for the assist? He looks like he is appreciating the humor of the situation.

The Marine’s NCO will probably have a few words with the young man, I can picture him offering to staple the cover on so it doesn’t happen again.

This little tableau is a glimpse into the inner man of our president. What you do automatically is a refection of who you are.

Obama would have never do enough this and Hillary forget about it she probably would have insulted the man for losing his cap

In the end, only kindness matters.

I hope this story and video gets plenty of media exposure.

I believe it could be a turning point for many who so far only know the man through the the distorted views of the leftist media.

I deplore the practice, which began with Reagan, of civilian officials saluting. POTUS giving drill orders would be worse.

A good rule of thumb would be: if General of the Army (ret) Dwight David Eisenhower did not do something pertaining to military customs when he was POTUS, anyone else shouldn’t do it either.

This little tableau is a glimpse into the inner man of our president.

We saw that when he gave cover to Dr. Carson during the introductions at one of the debates.

It is telling when a Commander is willing to serve those he commands - I’ll bet a few thousand who may have been on the fence would now crawl through a hundred yards of broken glass for him....

Trump is a man of joy. His actions are of kindness but also of strength of character. He does not bow down to any man but e will stoop to retrieve the cover of a marine. My brother served on that detail under Johnson.

That’s a bit sexist, isn’t it? I think a girl would have had more respect than Obama for the military.

Our USMC son was receiving an award from a General grade officer, his cover had just been knocked ‘ajar’ by a guidon.
The General quickly made it straight.

Had it not been his blues, it might have been glued on straight.

I think your assessment is correct; we never discuss this event in the house.

What?

I watched the vid and saw no such thing.

Your inter-service swipe at the Air Force is a bit out of control.

Of course, we all do banter:

“Marines, looking for a few good men. . . and a couple hundred thousand dumb-a$$es”

“Army, be all you can be. . .clueless and pathetic”

“Navy, it’s not just a job. . .it’s a silly job”

Air Force: http://joyreactor.com/post/459927

I’ve “done time” with all services and all were dedicated warriors deserving of respect. Poking fun at each other is good fun and helps morale.

Inventing mean spirited motive is not part of good-natured inter-service banter.

>>But, Trump should have said: At ease Marine and retrieve your cover!

Yes, he COULD have done as you’ve said, but he SHOULD have done exactly what he did. The President doesn’t need anyone to tell him what he should have done.

I deplore the practice, which began with Reagan, of civilian officials saluting. POTUS giving drill orders would be worse.

RR addressed that issue during a speech to US personnel at Keflavik, Iceland, on 12 October 1986, as he was departing from a summit meeting with Gorbachev:

A good rule of thumb would be: if General of the Army (ret) Dwight David Eisenhower did not do something pertaining to military customs when he was POTUS, anyone else shouldn’t do it either.

Absolutely. A good president should do as Ike did, on 27 October 1953, while awarding the Medals of Honor to Sgt. Hiroshi Miyamura and Lt. James L Stone:
